Wow! You don't have to read the graphic novels to enjoy and understand this TV adaptation of THE WALKING DEAD. In fact, it's probably better if you don't, as some plot elements have been changed. However, I would recommend watching Season One first; if you don't, you can still understand why Andrea gets upset at the mention of Amy but you can't truly FEEL the extent of Andrea's pain. Ditto for other characters; they EXPLAIN why they're angry or depressed but it doesn't compare to actually living through it with them, so get both seasons if you can! A likable character from Season 1 does something horrendously evil in Season 2, while an unpleasant Season 1 character shows a tender side in Season 2. THE WALKING DEAD can be an emotional rollercoaster, but it makes you think about whether people really can --- or SHOULD --- maintain their moral standards during a zombie apocalypse. And the zombie make-up is killer!
"Creepy From The First Frame"
When the world is ravaged by a zombie apocalypse, police officer Rick Grimes and a small group of others struggle to stay alive as "the dead" stalk them at every turn. Can Rick and the others hold onto their humanity as they fight to live in this terrifying new world? And, amidst dire conditions and personal rivalries, will they ultimately survive one another?
"The Walking Dead" is an epic, edge-of-your-seat drama where personal struggles are magnified against a backdrop of moment-to-moment crisis. A survivalist story at its core, the series explores how the living are changed by the overwhelming realization that those who survive can be far more dangerous than the mindless walkers roaming the earth. They themselves have become the walking dead.
I originally bought season one on Blu-ray because my fiancé likes zombie movies and she was interested in it. Our biggest complaint was the pace of the show. It was entirely too slow, spanning scenes/problems over the course of 3 episodes. However, the artwork/makeup is what kept us hanging on for a bit so we thought we'd check out season 2.
I should have known better than to buy it because the packaging itself was dumbed down for season 2. Nowehere near as elaborate or original as the season one packaging. They are completely different sizes too. This means investors backed out and they couldn't produce something as elaborate as the season 1 release. The pace didn't change and the kills didn't change either. For a true zombie movie fan you will get bored from the lack of creative and gory kills. But then again, what do you expect for a TV show? Anyway, we quickly lost interest in the show. The acting wears on you like a bad soap opera or like that feeling you get when you're half-way through twin peaks. I'd much rather watch something with a faster pace and more interesting subject like Breaking Bad or Boardwalk Empire. I'll leave the Zombie stuff to the pro filmmakers.
Each season of the Walking Dead just keeps getting better and better. True fans know you don't miss an episode unless there's an emergency and even then you'd have to seriously think about missing. A true around the water cooler discussion at the work on Mondays after each episode. Bought this as a gift for my son who is an avid fan. Just can't go wrong with this series. The third season is great so far, can't wait to finish so I can also buy it!
I hadn't ever gotten around to watching the first or second season on TV, but I had always heard good things about the series. I decided to buy the Season 1 Bluray pack and then I liked that so much I had to buy Season 2 as well.
The Walking Dead Season 2 doesn't disappoint. It's packed with action and is maybe even better than the first season. Plus, there are 13 episodes and each is better than the last. I highly recommend this and can't wait for the new season 3 episodes to air on TV.
Great buy, fun to watch, and pretty addicting actually.
