WWF Rage in The Cage (Sega CD)
Created: 09/20/10
WWF Rage in the cage is a solid wrestling title from the 16-bit era of gaming, and perhaps the best of the available WWF titles from 1990-1995. The gameplay and graphics is very similar to WWF Royal Rumble on Sega Genesis and SNES, but Rage in the cage has some noticeable additional features, for example:
1) In this game you get to choose from 20 of the more popular WWF-wrestlers of the early 90's. Compared to other WWF games of the time, this is quite a large character roster (Royal rumble had 10 characters).
2) Sound effects/quality are similar/identical to those featured in Royal Rumble (SNES). Howard Finkel's voice will introduce matches, and all wrestlers have audio recorded comments before matches.
3) The game offers cage matches.
4) You will also find a number of FMV videos in the game. In the section for character selection you can actually watch FMV's of each individual wrestler's special move. Also, if you beat the game on tournament mode, you will get to see a FMV of your wrestler celebrating in the ring.
The downside is that this game really shows its age. FMV videos are meant to be the "WOW" factor of this game. FMV in 16-bit resolution played on a full HD tv is not not very impressive by todays standards :P, but may work as a comic relief. If you already have Royal Rumble for SNES or Genesis, this is merely an extension of those titles, and little new content is offered besides the FMV's and additional character selection. Remember that this game does not have the option of Royal Rumble matches.
How ever, this game is quite affordable, and it gives you more for your money than what Royal Rumble on SNES or Genesis will do. Mainly because in you get to control wrestler's like Bam Bam Bigelow, Rick Martel, IRS, The Nasty Boys, The Headshrinkers, Kamala, The Big Boss man. Some of these wrestlers have only been featured in this game.

WWF Rage in the Cage. Old....but still GREAT!

This game is NOT for everyone! There is a certain age group that can appreciate this game. If you were a child or a teen in 1994, and loved wrestling, this game is for you! If not, you probaly won't like it! The graphics and gameplay are dated, the full motion video is in black & white, and the load times are pretty bad! Like I said it's WONDERFULLY horrible, and I LOVE every minute of it! We thought this game was the STUFF as kids! It's nothing compared to now but it is still so much fun to relive this game! I am now 30 and married. My friends come over once and a while, we play this, talk trash, and have a GREAT time! Buy this game now if you remember it! Stay away if you don't!
