If you've been waiting for a full-featured, big-screen LCD TV--and by big, I mean 5-feet-plus on the diagonal--that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, the Vizio XVT3D650SV may well be the answer to your prayers. For $2000 @ Walmart in Nashville, TN (as of March 13, 2012), this 65-inch LED-backlit set delivers good image quality and 3D support, plus tons of user controls and great connected-TV features, all easily accessible via Vizio's usual first-rate user interface and a nifty Bluetooth remote with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
Okay, $2000 isn't dirt cheap, but only a few years ago an LCD TV this size would easily have set you back more than $5000. Plus, there's so much to like about this set--and relatively little to complain about.
It is not, however, the greenest set around--in our tests, average hourly power consumption ran 123.6 watts when in use and 0.8 watt even when turned off, which is high for an LED-backlit set. The audio is just adequate, but otherwise its only real flaw is the lack of media playback support, despite having three (!) USB 2.0 ports. Vizio promises to deliver this functionality via a firmware upgrade in the not-too-distant future. (This seems to be a recurring issue with Vizio sets: I had the same experience with a previous model, and the firmware upgrade did eventually arrive.)
With a screen this big, flaws in image quality can be magnified when you're seated up close, but in our juried picture quality tests, the XVT3D650SV earned generally good scores, especially for handling motion--it ran our panning clip nearly flawlessly. Judges found colors to be bright without being oversaturated, although at least one judge remarked on a greenish cast compared to others in its test group. The Vizio's scores may not have been the highest, but it generally held its own in a strong field that included sets from top-tier vendors LG, Samsung, and Sharp.
Audio played through the set's two 15-watt speakers with Vizio's simulated surround sound technology is unremarkable at best. However, I suspect that many people who buy a set this large with 3D support will bypass the speakers in favor of a home theater audio setup to enjoy true surround sound.
Our juried test clips don't yet include 3D content, but in my hands-on evaluation I was impressed by the 3D effects in a Blu-ray Disc of The Last Airbender. Even better was the set's ability to recognize the presence of 3D content on a Blu-ray disc with both 2D and 3D versions, and then ask whether I wanted to don special 3D glasses or stick with the 2D version. The set lets you toggle between three types of 3D content technology (and according to Vizio's spec sheet, it supports a couple more), but I never had to actually choose a 3D mode: When I clicked the option for viewing The Last Airbender on Blu-ray in 3D, the set automatically chose the right 3D setting. Vizio includes four sets of polarized glasses with the set. (It's worth noting, however, that the smart-dimming technology Vizio uses to help improve contrast and overall image quality works only for 2D video.)
I wish Vizio would stop shipping its TVs without multimedia playback support (it shouldn't be that hard, right?), but overall, the XVT3D650SV delivers the company's usual solid bundle of good image quality and current technology extras at a competitive price. If you're in the market for a supersized Smart TV with future-proofing in the form of 3D support, this set is definitely worth considering. I recommend it!

I would first like to point out that I have only had the pleasure of owning this set for about 3 weeks now, but these are my initial observations. .
The first thing that comes to mind when you walk into the room is, WOW. The sheer size of the screen is enough to make any man child drool, but the sleekness of the frame, simplistic but appropriate glossy frame, and 2 inch thick rear panel really compliment this monster of a television. Not only is she sexy and thin, but she packs all of the features you would come to expect from a brands top of the line offering, including dual band wifi connectivity, Vizio's own internet apps, LED backlighting, 5 HDMI's (Thats right I said 5!!) and 3D playback.
The picture quality of this set I found to exceed my expectations. This is the first Vizio set I have owned, previously Samsung, Sony, and Philips, but Vizio did not disappoint. The recreation of 2d images were crystal clear with colors that popped, and DEEP levels of black. Even though this television is an edge lit LED, Vizio has made great strides with this technology and combined with the 32 "zones" that dim areas of the screen to achieve great contrast ratios, what you get are outstanding black levels. For a screen with a 1 Million to 1 contrast ratio, these levels proved to be on par with the 25 million contrast ratio 65" Samsung on display at my local Magnolia store. 3D is equipped on this device, utilizing passive 3D technology. This is the first passive set I have used (Also the first passive set to hit the market by any brand) and I found this feature to also exceed my expectations and really made me fan of passive 3D televisions. No doubt do I believe this is the future of 3D tv, at least until they can make a large screen glasses free 3D television, at an affordable price. The image was bright, "crystal clear," and the depth, once configured correctly within my 3D bluray player, was spot on with what I had come expect from 3D play back in the home. I have to say that 3D effects very much vary on the source. Some 3D blurays have better 3D effects than other. I personally thought that "The Legends of the Owls" animated movie was AWESOME, and a real treat on the eyes. Best 3D Bluray I have seen yet, but looking forward to getting my copy of Avitar 3D in the mail. Over all VERY pleased with the performance of this machine.
Vizio's internet suite offers alot of apps for you to enjoy at the push of a button. Everything one could want including streaming 3D movies in HD from VUDU (Which gives you a free rental credit your first time). The only thing left wanting was a "You Tube" app, and that is been promised by Vizio to arrive sometime this summer 12'. For this reason, I gave the product 4 stars out of 5 in the Features section.
Overall the value for your money is busting out of the seams on this television! SO much premium packed into an affordable price tag. Yes, this set is still somewhat expensive and I know not everyone is going to be able to afford it, but for a 65" LED 3D television, THIS GOOD, the price is more than enough to swallow. I can't begin to explain how satisfied I am with this purchase. Was a little hesitant, just because it was a Vizio and never really heard much about them or had experience. Vizio, You have a new loyal customer in me. Believe me, I WILL be back for more. I hope this helps if you at all considering this television set.

original packaged with all accessories included and fast shipped as scheduled, which looks new open boxed item but works fine and this quality TV, has all features, no distorted or ghost images are found. Its 3d pictures are bright and lively defined, and 2d images look natural but not too sharp as LG and I dislikes the screen has high gross layer always has too much lights reflection around need to coverup and darken my room. Internet apps can be upgraded itself to a newer version has Youtube and Skype, I like its passive 3d need no battery recharged has light weighted glass with its bluetooth connection to my earphone comfortably which performs as theater alike entertainment.

This is a great TV. I did a lot of research before i brought this item. It is HUGE if you have a small room you may want to look at other TV's. The color and clarity is outstanding. It was well packaged and shipped without any problems. It is heavy and you will need some help with it. The 3-D is super. There are other TV's out there but as far a i am concerned this is the best value for your money. I would highly recommend it. A 10 plus out if 10.
