for the price >100.00 you cannot find a better wide angle zoom these where originally designed for 35mm film cameras but on my Nikon D70s with the 1.5 crop factor it works out to around a 30mm-53mm zoom this is the second lens like this i have owned the first was a phoenix(8 years) the vivitar is made by the same manufacturer as is the Cosina brand and possibly the Tamron with only slight differences i prefer this lens to the nikon 18-55mm kit lenses because they are better made with a metal lens mount vs the plastic one on the Nikon also it can still be use on my Nikon film cameras with the Nikon DX lenses you cannot I recommend this lens to anyone who wants a wide angle zoom for general photography with out paying 5x to 10x for a Nikon lens of the same focal range I strongly recommend that you purchase a 77mm UV filter to protect the lens because of the large front element which can be damaged easily due to it's shallow depth this lens is also very light around 12oz and compact so its easy to carry good luck and happy bidding theyashicakid
I bought this Lens. I own two; (Vivitar Series 1 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5) to use with a Kodak DCS Pro 14n DSLR. The Kodak has a full frame 35mm size sensor; no crop factor! Used full frame the Vivitar will not disappoint! The images are sharp, contrasty and flare free. I am going to buy the bayonet mount lens hood just in case though. I am fairly certain that if I were to compare images, with images made with my Nikon 20 mm; the Vivitar would not be quite as good. That said, The Vivitar can be had for under 100 dollars. WAY under sometimes. After using the Series 1, I do not feel I need to use my manual focus Nikon nearly as much. I do not know why the Vivitar's reputation is lacking. maybe used with
a crop factor; the image gets enlarged more. Used full frame,
the Vivitar Series 1 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5) is fantastic!
Great little lens. For the price you cannot get a better wide angle zoom lens for your DSLR. Not the fastest lens but it gets the job done. Works with both my old 35mm canon SLR and my XSI so it is great.
This is a great lens it is a full frame lens so it works on any nikon fx and dx dslr, it is sharp enough for most. it does not have a built in motor so it will mount and work but not auto focus on D40 d40x d60 d3000 d5000, if you have any other nikon dslr it will autofocus and work with all the functions it was intended to.
