This TV's main problem is its lack of ability to resize the image. For example, if you want to view Standard (low def) broadcasts in their trur 4:3 aspect ratio, it can not be done. The TV automatically stretches the image to the full width of the screen. People look fat. I haven't gotten a headache yet but it may be unnerving to some.
I bet that it would make a fine computer monitor but I purchased it for a HDTV. Once I hook it up to a HDTV satelite receiver, I expect it to perform adequately because the satelite tuner will allow re-sizeable imaging.
If you are considering it for an OVER-THE-AIR HDTV, beware that all non HD broadcasts will be stretched to fit with no sizing adjustments provided on the set.
The speakers seem very good. The preset picture modes interesting but I found the manual color/brightness/contrast that I designed myself is the one that looks best.
In summary, I have seen many better HDTVs but for a 720p set at a reasonable price. many people will be happy with it. Then, there are others that can not be pleased without perfection in every way. Glad I read about the stretch problems with this TV and its lack of view sizing before it arrived. I'm happy with the TV.
For the dollars spent this tv is a good buy, must be at eyelevel or color is distorted and details too. Doesn't bother us for extra tv in bedroom and don't need any extra hookups, power and sat.cable, is all we use, light enough to move to different room as needed and put on small table (at eye level) we find the sound is very acceptable without using extra speakers. We live offgrid so wattage was very important to us, and this tv is energy star, very low wattage for the size screen, any bigger tv we would have to run our generator, so this one works great off our battery bank. And generators here in unheated room at below -20C do not like to start and keep running. So for anyone else in this situation I highly recommend this tv for its size. RVers, even campers..if you really don't want to watch nature..or miss your fave show. Easily packable and solid construction. We don't regret our purchase at all and they are reasonbly priced.
