) The objective: Replace 10" CRT in kitchen with 15" LCD.
The constraints: Small kitchen. Monitor has only one place....on top of the partially recessed refrigerator. Cable system/and power outlet behind refrigerator.
Product requirements: Maximum dimensions, 17-18" wide, 5-6" deep. Built-in speakers, wide viewing angle, and tilt adjustment. Must also possess internals to work with digital cable TV service.
Research: Included reviews, manufacturers, forums, etc.
Decision: Purchased the ViewSonic based upon research results, product description comparisons across competing brands, and 'Top Choice' award of online reviews. ViewSonic specifically mentioned in its product description that the unit was a good choice for kitchens.
Results: The Good; the product meets the dimensions, cable tie-in requirements, and the external design, style fit well. The price was reasonable. The color quality of the picture is excellent, but the sharpness, crispness of picture detail, and words are lacking despite adjustment.
The Bad; product description mentioned only horizontal viewing angle, which is fine, but shame on me for assuming that the vertical angle was the same. Shame on ViewSonic for not including it in the product specs. The pathetic tilt angle range is insufficient to offset the limited vertical viewing angle.
The built-in speakers are as my research discovered .....computer speakers. I knew this going in.
The Ugly; I cannot recommend this product. Saying this about ViewSonic is really disappointing to me. It has a great history. Maybe that's the problem.

) Small and compact. Sleek and stylus. Nice size for the kitchen From what Ive seen in other stores for this same size, its something that I would recommend. I have never had a Viewsonic lcd tv before but I do like the quality. Only thing is that the sound could be better

Very good picture. The sound is a little tinny because they expect you to use your own sound system, I guess. Very compact.
