|Additional Technical Informations|
The Velocity Micro Cruz T301 delivers Android 2.2 on a 7-inch screen for an affordable price.
We're not fond of the dim, low-res screen and bulky design. Also, core Google Mobile apps aren't included, including Android Market.
The Velocity Micro Cruz T301 Android tablet is a decent, low-priced option for general Web and e-mail tasks, but its bulky size and mediocre screen quality make it a poor choice for e-books, multimedia, and games.

What a fantastic little tablet! Move over Viewsonic, Blackberry, Acer and Motorola! Realistically speaking, this "little guy" is not nearly as fast as its $500 competitors, but it DOES get the job done and it IS lots of FUN to use! The screen is bright and sharp. Touchpad could be a little better--sometimes you have to touch 2 or 3 times to get the desired response--but you DO get the response AND the desired action. I have no trouble at all getting onto WiFi at home or at hotspots--this thing can even pick up WiFi when you're sitting in your car out in the parking lot! Setting up email took less than 4 minutes. I have a 4GB SD card installed and it holds a ton of information, including music, photos and a few videos! Video playback is so-so--I have certainly seen worse, and considering the price of this tablet, I have no complaints. Video is an enhancement here and not the main function anyway. The ereader is outstanding! The device is designed to work with KOBO, but can also handle KINDLE, ALDIKO and OVERDRIVE (allowing you to get free ebooks from your local library.) I love that it is not tied into just one bookstore--you literally have access to all bookstores with this Cruz T301. The ereader can change fonts, enlarge text, highlight text, define words with the built-in dictionary and has a day and night screen making it possible to read in total darkness--yes, you can finally read in bed without disturbing anyone!! This device is almost a MUST-HAVE for any grandparent! It shows off pics of the grandkids and family pets BEAUTIFULLY! You can show photos one-at-a-time or in a nice little slideshow, with your favorite tunes playing in the background! When listening to music with earphones, this tablet rivals the iPod in sound quality. The Cruz T301 is thin, lightweight and 100% portable--no need to leave it home--EVER!! (Just make sure you remember to charge it up before leaving the house.) Depending on your usage, it can hold a charge for up to 3 days. If using it a lot to surf the web or watch YouTube videos, it will only last you for about 4 to 6 hours. Yes, you can watch YouTube videos (at a lesser quality than your desktop, laptop or netbook--but you CAN watch) and you can read your FACEBOOK messages and posts--and make a few posts of your own. The device does not support flash video--but NO DEVICE running Android 2 does, so don't fault the Cruz for that. However, for the more technically advanced among us, Skyfire can be installed as a browser, making it possible to add flash. As is, the device does not access the Android Market; but it DOES access the Amazon Market, and I have found everything I've ever needed or wanted there (in terms of games, utility apps, music, etc.) Don't bypass this little gem! BID NOW!! This thing makes a great gift for yourself or a loved one. I know what I'm giving my family members for Christmas!! I am that impressed with the thing!
This Tablet is basic with an Android 2.2 operating system but it feels substantial in your hand with it's quality build. I'm sure you could root this unit up to Android 4.0 if you had the notion to. The screen is a great size and it's resolution is very good for the Cruz brand you might not have heard of. if look them up on the web you will discover they make other quality tablets. If you are considering a new or used tablet in a lower price range consider Cruz. They also have excellent customer service. I called for updates on the operating system and a real person emailed the fix and it worked. Also buy from my seller. They are top notch and trustworthy.
I bought this tablet for my daughter for Christmas. I ended up reselling it and buying a better one. This is good for its money, I only paid $40 for it. It could be used as a kindle which would be better than using it for internet. It does browse the web but not the way I had hoped. It does not have Google play store. In fact, I couldn't use Google at all, you can only use yahoo. Google is not compatable. If I kept it for my daughter, she wouldn't be able to download games, play games, or take photos ( no camera ). And it is not fast at all when browsing and when I tried downloading, it wouldn't. All I would have been able to do is save the link to a game online to her front screen so she could easily access it. So, maybe this would be perfect for a reader, or someone that just needs to check their mail or Facebook...but not for someone who wants games, fast browsing, or photos.
I suppose I will write this review to inform others about these tablets. *Please note- If you are not tech savvy, save yourself money and frustrations because these need work. The tablet is not supported by the designers. The Android 2.2 OS system with these conflict with anything that is Google. The java script crashes the system. Solution-Do not use anything from Google. Bing and other browsers work fine with these, but if your trying to download or installing apps disable the java script. Enable the Java to surf the Web. Another issue, the screen may close out and leave a black screen. Simply pressing the reset button will restart your tablet. For those who decide that the can work around the issues, it can be done, but if this a gift you will have to educate the user about the issues, and if they change or clear any settings then your hard work of changing the browsers, settings, apps, ect. will be reset. In this case, you will have to do everything all over again. Last note, these tablets are worth it for the money, but anticipate issues and learning how to fix them.
I kind of like the "Bulky" design,it feels alot sturdier than most tablets. But and I do mean but the big negative to this tablet is that for some reason no one on the planet'so far' has been able to figure a way to upgrade the operating system to android 4.0 or anything above android 2.2 which makes for a pretty lousy experience overall when it comes to playing with a tablet.Since all we ever try to do is download and try new APPS.So if no new APPS work,Whats the point.
