I LOVE this tablet! It is so helpful and so handy. I can check my email, show off my best photos, listen to tons of music, play some fun and stress-busting games, and even watch full-length movives downloaded onto SD cards. I keep a few bookmarked websites on the homepage so that with one click of my finger, I can check my eBay bids, the local weather and my hometown newspaper! I do totally recommend updating the firmware, available free on the Cruz support website. It takes about 10 minutes to do from start to finish and makes your tablet run faster, smoother, more efficiently and easier. I also totally recommend investing in a gel skin--the gel skin not only protects your tablet, it makes it easier to hold onto AND it helps you find your 3 function buttons quickily and in the dark. The 3 function buttons are not backlit, so seeing them in lowlight conditions can be tricky--the gel skin totally solves that problem! You can easily "feel" where the function buttons are. The ereader is wonderful! You can enlarge print, highlight text, look up words with the built-in dictionary and choose between a day and night screen. With the night screen function it is totally possible to read without any lights on at all--so you don't disturb anyone if you want to read in bed! It can "handle" ebooks from several sources--KOBO and KINDLE being the most popular. Many ebooks are offered for free, so you can totally build yourself up a nice little ebook library. I have no trouble at all getting on to free WiFi hot spots at coffee shops or restaurants--and as more and more businesses are starting to offer WiFi, it's nice to have a device like this with you that can take advantage of the service! This tablet accesses the Amazon Apps Market where you can download a plethora of apps--there are so many apps available that it makes my head swim! HUNDREDS of apps are free and in addition, Amazon offers one "paid app" for free, every day--you simply log on to your account and see if you'd like to download that app or not. By installing the FACEBOOK App and the YOUTUBE app from the included CRUZ MARKET, you can watch YouTube videos just fine and read your FB posts and write a few posts of your own. This tablet totally rocks and it's worth saying again--I LOVE this tablet!
This is a handy little piece of Tech.I wish that I had purchased this before I bought my Netbook! Since I acquired this little Gem, the netbook is gathering dust! Think of it as a cross between a Kindle ,MP3 player and an iPad. and it is ANDROID! I have found that 70% of the Open Market Android apps work on this device. The number would be higher, but that remaining 30% are Phone type apps, like dialers, etc. Connecting through WiFi was effort less. The touch screen is super responsive. The battery life varies, depending on what apps you are running. Between 3 days to 2 weeks. My only complaint is I wish there was an app so you could remove apps from start-up. As is, I can go to "Settings" and shut them down manually, much like "Task Manager" in a Windows PC. Swapping out the Sd cards is quick and easy, so you can have one with movies on it, and one for games, etc. 32 MB holds a LOT of apps. It interfaces with my Windows PC so I can move things in and out of the SD card, just like a peripheral hard drive. I looked at MANY different Tablets, researched ALL their specs, before deciding on this one. This one had the most features, best specs for the price then all the rest. If you look, you can find it for $150!
The unit it's self is pretty good, I think it is better than a Kindle cause is in color.
I bought it so could e-mail and do very light browsing while traveling this summer with out a big laptop.
Good things...The battery life is good, so do not have to charge everytime I use it. I did find works much better with a stylist than my finger tip. Wifi seems to work well, as long as can get an open one. And pretty fast also takes a very to open up, but after that goes right along, for the installed memory. Screen easy to see even in bright sunlight (but get your self a screen protector). Speakers are pretty clear for it's size and cost.
Bad things about it is first have to plug into wall to charge will not charge through USB cable.
And very little instructions with it, to learn how to use. Online at companies website not lots better, for someone new need to find a teenager to help you.
And very poor reply time to e-mail (which seems standard with most).
Last thing ...not sure good or bad...is the SD card only way to get stuff on it is to dock with computer and does not add to total overall memory as had read on sites, and no way of running Apps from it. But a great way to share pictures with people.
So if you get one get an 8gb one, saves having to deleted stuff. Plus for the extra cost, would save overall
But over all a good little unit and Ebook reader, fair amount of free Apps.....worth the money
I purchased this product to replace my old palm pilot. I love the size and the display is awesome. I connects easily to wifi and is easy to use. The only dislike is that I don't have access to the android market. Cruz has its own apps which is plenty to fit my needs.
Its seems to run ok for what I paid for it but I was a little disappointed that it does not contain the google framework or the "real" android app market place. I intend to use this for everyday multimedia purposes such as email, web browsing, skype, facebook/twitter, & netflix. Through some simple searching on google I was able to download the latest android market app but it did not seem to work on my tablet. With further investigation I came across this site and saw a thread pertaining to updating the ROM or rooting the OS?? It seems that will make the tablet able to run the current version of the android marketplace in which I could download the apps I would like to use. If anyone could be of assistance in helping me achieve that I would be very grateful.
