The VVME LCD Projector is HD Ready, so you don't have to worry about buying an extra cord to downgrade quality like on other projectors. It is used for entertainment in my bedroom and gives a great image, but not the best for a projector.
It is GREAT for movies and even for video games with friends. I used this at a LAN party for Halo Reach and it fit the entire wall so everyone could have their own 42" view (3-4 players on one screen).
Downside is that it is not true HD, so a few spots will be a bit pixellated from a distance in a game or movie, but still plays excellent and fits 1080p games with no problem. I wish that the LCD panel had a better resolution though (800x480). Supports all fits, like it said before and even has the option to switch between 16:9 ratio and 4:3! Only use computer if using for movies or gaming, because the text and fonts for everyday use is squished together.
Best used when dark or in a room that is meant to be dark. Can still see with the lights on, but not as good. After a few adjustments to the contrast and brightness on it, it looks much sharper and amazing.
For the price it is worth it! It's better than paying an extra 300 for somewhat on the same lines, though I wish that the resolution was better. Yes, you can see the "screen" effect, but it's not bothersome from a distance.
The only real downfall that I noticed is the audio out. It is better to plug your audio directly into a theatre source, rather than the projector and then plug it into the audio source. The sound cracks and chops when it gets to a certain loudness (did this when I played Splinter Cell: Conviction).
For the price, GET IT! Kids will LOVE IT!
If you're picky about HD and having crisp lines and etc don't get it, but if you're just looking for a cheap projector for family fun and no worries about "true HD" then get it!.
I was excited to get this projector. It is quite a value for the money.
Some things I didn't like about it was the inability to autosense the signal - you have to manually select, and the manual does not tell you how to do that. Not only must you select "AV/TV" with the remote, but you must then move down three selections to pick "VGA". I had thought my laptop video out was broken, but it was only my understanding.
It is that same story in many areas. Certainly, this is not the top of the line AV projector with autosensing (never claimed it had it), the highest resolution (but still clear and sharp), or the best manual (but how hard is it to select from menus?). But this projector is 10x less that those high end models, and perfectly adequate for home A/V needs.
I bought this product because it was a good price/performance trade-off, and I needed one quickly for my Dad's 90th birthday party. The text in articles can be hard to read, while completely readable on the laptop 1200x800 screen. I had forgotten what 800x600 felt like. So I set the laptop resolution back, and it made decisions about what to include in the presentations much simpler. More pictures, or just headlines. Probably an easier presentation to watch, too.
This was a Christmas present I gave to my boys. I converted a spare bedroom into a video game/movie room using this projector. The display is about 5'x7, and it looks great! It's not perfect though, but it certainly is good enough. It has a little trouble with white, and shades of white. However, when I watch movies or play games where that is an issue, I can compensate for this by turning down the "brightness" with the remote. I've seen projectors advertised for thousands of dollars, and they may be better than this one, but not thousands of dollars better. I'm very happy with this purchase, and would recommend this product to anyone. I read a review complaining about the sound. I wasn't worried about that, assuming that I or anyone else would invest in a speaker system so that the sound will come from in front of you and not the projector beside you. I got a Logitech surround sound system from Best Buy for $100 and it is fantastic! It is just like being at the movies, and the video game experience is awesome. So, $239 for the projector and $100 for the sound system gave me a kick ass home theatre. Money well spent, and a great new use for a spare bedroom. By the way, this projector would be much, much easier to carry than a big screen TV if you plan on moving a lot or need to get it upstairs.

I bought this to replace a DLP projector with a bad chip. This is a good solid projector for the price. Brightness is adjustable, would recommend dimly lit or dark room though. Better resolution with HD input whether TV or movies. We currently use it to replace our TV. Has large projection area close to screen. Using just a blank off-white wall, works great. Audio out could use higher wattage but works ok with cheap speakers. Hard to adjust internal speakers down. Sometimes too loud. I would rate it 7 out of 10, or 8 out of 10 for the price.
I love it. Brightboxe DLP Texas Instrument is a kind of projector that we don't have to keep changing light bulb as it last. The light source was LED, which will take less electricity than the older kind. It's lighter and compact. It shows widescreen, and the picture quality looks clear. The color looks bright. It has an option between the widescreen and the fullscreen. It's cooler than the older kind.
