Album NotesGuns N' Roses: W. Axl Rose (vocals, piano), Slash (guitar, background vocals); Duff McKagan (bass, percussion, background vocals); Matt Sorum (drums, percussion, background vocals).Additional personnel: Gilby Clarke (guitar, background vocals); Dizzy Reed (keyboards, percussion, background vocals).Guns N' Roses, one of the most popular '80s rock groups, doesn't seem to uphold that reputation in concert. The biggest problem is, in fact, that the band tries too hard. In order to keep the crowd on its feet, they run around on-stage while playing their instruments and singing, and play sloppily as a result. Axl Rose, in particular, often runs out of breath, barely even having enough energy to add numerous, unnecessary vulgarities to most of the songs. Many fans will be disappointed with this video, especially since a band like Guns N' Roses would be expected to sound even better live than in the studio. ~ Barry Weber
With Guns 'N Roses fronted by one of the bad boys of rock, Axl Rose, it's no wonder that their concerts were notoriously raunchy and chaotic. They often started two hours late, with the time before their entrance being filled by audience nudity. When Axl and the boys came on stage however, no one was disappointed. Elaborate costume changes, extremely long sets, and impassioned performances made G 'n R one of the best stadium rock bands of the 1990's. On this fantastic release, filmed at their Tokyo leg of the Use Your Illusion Tour, Guns 'N Roses perform several songs off of their three hit albums. The infamous performance of "Live and Let Die," during which Axl dons a kilt, is included!
