Movie synopsis
Liam Neeson headlines this thriller about a prominent doctor on a business trip to Germany when he awakens from a coma to find that another man has stolen his identity and taken over his life. Dr. Martin Harris (Neeson) has just arrived in Berlin to deliver an important presentation when he realizes that his briefcase has gone missing, and leaves his wife, Elizabeth (January Jones), at their hotel to try and retrieve it. During his cab ride back to the airport, however, a serious car accident lands Dr. Harris in the hospital, where he lies in a coma for four days. Upon awakening, Dr. Harris is horrified to discover that every relic of his identity has been completely erased. His shock is soon compounded when, upon seeking out his wife at a lavish party, another man (Aidan Quinn) appears by her side claiming to be the real Dr. Martin Harris, and requests that hotel security protect them from the unstable "imposter." Facing total denial from everyone he turns to, Dr. Harris gets a tip from a sympathetic nurse to seek out the assistance of Ernst J├╝rgen (Bruno Ganz), the former head of the German Secret Police, who implores him to track down Gina (Diane Kruger), the illegal immigrant taxi driver who narrowly saved his life, and may hold the answers to all of his questions. Now, the closer Dr. Harris gets to solving the mystery, the greater the danger becomes until the astonishing truth is revealed, plunging him into a desperate race against time.

Editorial reviews

3 stars out of 4 -- "[A] film that trades the lurid extremes of TAKEN for a more subtle, sophisticated vibe."
Washington Post (02/18/2011)

"The director Jaume Collet-Serra knows is way around multilane roadways, and he and his stunt team squeeze in a few slick car chases..."
New York Times - Manohla Dargis (02/18/2011)

"UNKNOWN is very much in the tradition of smooth Continental entertainments that expertly deliver on audience expectations....UNKNOWN is consistently albeit genteelly thrilling..."
Los Angeles Times - Kenneth Turan (02/18/2011)

"For his first actioner, Collet-Serra attacks the opportunity of a classic car chase, articulately shot and cut, and built in distinct movements."
Sight and Sound - Sight and Sound Critic (04/01/2011)

3.5 stars out of 5 -- "Jaume Collet-Serra's tidy, moody thriller ticks along at a fast pace -- like the Autobahn, it's pure Teutonic efficiency."
Box Office - Amy Nicholson (02/17/2011)

Entertaining and full of suspense

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Liam Neeson stars as Dr. Martin Harris, a biotech engineer who is attending a summit in Berlin, upon arrival he looses his briefcase containing his passport and all his documents and leaves his wife at the hotel to get them. On the way back to the airport he is in an accident and awakens 4 days later in a hospital. As he slowly regains his memories of what he is doing and what has happened he also learns there is something else going on and there are forces at work that would keep him from learning the truth.

This was a very good movie, the plot was full of suspense and the action will keep you wanting to see more.

The movie also stars: Diane Kruger, January Jones, Aidan Quinn, Frank Langella, Bruno Ganz, Sebastian Koch, Stipe Erceg, Rainer Bock, Mido Hamada, Clint Dyer, and Karl Markovics.

Highly recommended for anyone who loves a great action adventure.

Review For: Unknown (DVD, 2011)

Bruno Ganz (WINGS OF DESIRE) as a spy come in from the cold and Diane Kruger as an unlicensed taxi driver bring unexpected heft to this deft reworking of a Hitcockian Cold War thriller. Anchored by a solid Liam Neeson turn, UNKNOWN succeeds in "greening" terrorism into something that feels like a clear and present threat. 007 had better watch out: UNKNOWN is the real deal!

Review For: Unknown (DVD, 2011)

Well this movie is modestly action packed and suspenseful. It doesn't deliver as far as action and suspense like Takin did I was disappointed. I really do not reccomend this movie. But if you were not expecting it to be as good as Taken you might like it.
