I bought the UNIDEN TRU9466 5.8GHZ 2-LINE cordless phone BASE and HANDSET as a replacement for the UNIDEN TRU 8866 BASE and HANDSET, which was working as a base, but had handset problems. I was also working to clear up severe interference problems with my wired phones, which were picking up what sounded like a continuing talk show about 6-8 hours per day.
I never was able to pin the problem completely to the UNIDEN, nor was i able to abslove it. Moving the base away (after reading numerous reviews citing similar problems) and adding filters to the “satin” line of one wired phone cleared the interference problem.
The now relocated TRU9466 delivers a reasonable range and usable connection on 2 lines for 5 TCX805 handsets I run all over the house. It works even outside the house on the lawn (60-70 feet), but not much farther. It provides Caller ID and mobility while chatting, neither of which are available on my older wired phones.
The UNIDEN handset offers a host of features, which are mostly unused and confusing to my Ludite family. Nonetheless they seem to prefer the handsets to the wired phones most of the time, and may in time learn to use features like the dial directory.
I have been using the handsets and the older base for a couple of years. Excepting the one handset associated with the 6688, the rest remain working well at this point in time, and it was great to solve the problem without having to replace the entire system.
I liked that the units were factory shipped in retail packaging. All necessary items: bases, handsets, batteries, and manuals were included. Only accessory not included were belt clips for the handsets. I could not really tell product was refurbished, as there were only superficial signs of use. As for the setup, base phone and handsets were easy to setup. After 12 hrs the phones could be used. Performance wise, the phone is adequate for basic use such as in speakerphone mode. Volume is not particularly loud, and have to repeat myself at times to be heard. Sometimes there is a silence in speakerphone mode and you're not sure if the line is still connected. Also, there is static or interference depending on the handsets' location during a call. A little annoying at times, but does not persist. All-in-all, the phone is an upgrade to the old 2.4GHz Panasonic that I was using. Overall, I would recommend this product, particularly a refurbished unit to save some bucks!!!!
This phone is for use with a two line office. We have 6 desks so this was perfect for our needs. It has an integrated answering machine. Each handset having access to both lines makes things much more efficient. Call quality is good. Our last phone required us to forward the call to another handset, two people could not be on the same line at the same time. We can now conference call or if someone picks up the line and it wasn't for them, we can just say "Hey Jon, pick up line 2!" We had a problem with one handset when we got it, but the customer service took care of us right away and we expect to receive a new handset for it soon. Other than that, we have no dislikes for it.
We purchased this phone for our small business. We have one base and 2 handsets. As for the over all function of the phone I would highly recommend it. Very easy to use, great design, and easy to set up. The only con so far is the reception, but we are asking alot from this phone. We currently keep one handset in the office and one handset at the other end of our shop. We placed the base in the middle of the two handsets for best reception on each end. Aprox. 75 feet between handset and base. We have concrete walls in our shop, I think the contributes to the problem. I cant comment on voice mail or ring tone functionality because we don't use them. Unidens are great phones I had one at my home for years, no problems yet from it. Hope this helps.
I got tired of getting up to go and pick up my phone so I looked for a cordl phone. Since I needed a two line one, my choice was limited. This phone has a resonable size and works well. Shipping was fast and Free.
