I just bought another Uniden TCX860 Expansion Handset to add to my original system that I've had for 5 years. I can't imagine myself ever giving up the system and its expansion handsets. The handsets are quite convenient, since they don't require a line cord for operation. Additionally, the handsets can each be programmed with a great variety of individual choices, such as ringer volume, ring tones, screen brightness, and language options. The system, itself, offers many further features and choices. I may, indeed, add even more handsets in the future, but as I said, I plan to keep my Uniden phone system for a very long time to come.
They are great phones and since they use 5ghz they don't get interference from 802.11b & g networks (802.11n does use 5ghz however). If you are buying a used one, make sure that the handset has been reset before you buy. The handset has to be reset to connect to a new base unit. If you get one that is not reset, you have to enter the secret code (use google to find it because Uniden won't tell you). Entering the secret code is difficult. It didn't work for me until about the 10th try, I almost gave up.
We have nine handsets for this phone (it expands to 10). Seven are in our home, one is in our home office, and one is in a workshop on our property. The phone can be connected to two telephone lines and is compatible with many digital telephone services such as caller I.D., voice mail, etc. We've had the base unit for eight years and it has proven very reliable.
