USA Today - Claudia Puig (11/20/2009)

3 stars out of 5 -- "NEW MOON becomes a melodrama about a broken heart that gradually and sweetly mends."
Box Office - Amy Nicholson (11/19/2009)

"Once again, the three young leads give committed performances, with Lautner's character allowed a larger share of the spotlight this time around."

A waxing perception

I have to say, I have never been one to fall into this Twilight phase - not however criticizing those who have by any means, simply not quite understanding the draw into it. Having watched both Twilight, and New Moon, I personally enjoy them - but not as the movie that was intended. I had personally read parts of Twilight and thought it to be a rather comical interpretation of a vampire story, so I watched the film. The film did not disappoint, I found it to be hilarious, the acting in the first -while raved of the raw and true emotion, lacked any connection between the characters. The plus in their defense was that they chose very attractive actors, so the lust a viewer would feel towards seeing them on the big screen made up for the lack of connection between the lovers, since most of the people watching were females who would rather imagine themselves in the position anyways.

By saying the film was comical, it's not meant to be insulting, because there is still a value in it even though it was not intended for that. I have watched Twilight a few times and still find it just as funny. People say that the books are better than the films, and I don't doubt that, the story did have potential, but Bella and Edward never really did, the strengths that they do have, are never played upon, but instead only their weaknesses. This is compared to a great Romeo and Juliet story of the ages, and that could be said as true, because in Romeo and Juliet they were still just children as well that quickly fell into lust - just as Bella and Edward, the story moves too quickly, and they don't have any deeper understanding of each other - the lack of actors emotional connection to each other just shows this continued naive view of love.(some could say the two dating threw off the on-screen chemistry perhaps)

All of that being said, I went into watching New Moon having high hopes for another teen vampire comedy - and was disappointed, while somewhat impressed. Disappointed that there was not as much comedy as the first, but impressed that they had cleaned up a lot of what was wrong in the first. Jacob's character, has matured a lot, he is quite a strong actor, when Bella and Jacob interact together throughout that first large chunk of the film, you actually feel heat. Edward, still made me laugh, I enjoy Robert Pattinson, but the whole character of Edward has never come off as a strong one.

The director and writer also did a much better job on this film then the last. In the first film, camera angles, and stylistic choices of the film did however keep me enthralled, - actually the main reason I watched it in the first place. This did not change in the second - no matter what is lacking, at least it was still pretty. The CGI did add an extra element to it that I enjoyed as well, they did rather well with the transformations of the werewolves in Jacob's tribe. In every way, New Moon was much better than Twilight, but still in my opinion not the best a movie could be.

I think what bothers me the most, is that the story is being compared to so many that have much deeper substance. Anne Rice, and Shakespeare, have no place in comparison to Stephanie Meyer's rendition of a vampire, her werewolves make much better characters anyways. She places vicious villains in a naive tween fantasy, only to be taken away in the simplest of efforts. While a big thumbs up for not turning her vampires into bats - all respect was lost again when I saw Edward sparkle.

Oh the drama!!

As with my review for the first one, this review is from a guy first of all, and also from someone who grew up
with the traditional Vampire/Werewolf rules. That being said, I loved this movie even more than the first one.

But not as much as my wife!! lol

The story picks up where the first one left off and thankfully the original cast has returned in full. I hate when
actors are replaced for ANY reason. This one centers around Bella and Jacob where as the first was all about
Bella and Edward. This is great. Jacob has matured a lot since the first film and so has the actor playing him.
Those of you who saw "Twilight" will remember Jacob's story to Bella about his tribe, and the Cullen Clan.

This gets played out very well. Jacob (as the trailer shows you) is a Werewolf. Finally discovering this, he now
has even more reason to hate the absent Edward. New Moon has some CGI involved unlike "Twilight" which
had almost no CGI at all. The CGI I'm referring to is done fairly well, the Werewolves look really good. Some
of the villains from the first movie return (duh) as well as a new threat to the Edward/Bella/Jacob love triangle,
the Vulterie (did I spell that right?). The Vulterie are a group of Vampires who (in their minds) rule all of their
kind with an iron fist. How they are involved I won't tell you, watch and see. Lots of great characters, a good
original story and some solid acting make New Moon a must see, despite the critics' complaining. The music
is great, the directing, camera work, production, sound and everything in between are all very solid as well.

If you are curious about the Twilight boom of recent years then I highly recommend seeing what all the hype
is for. I recommend this title to the jaded fans who are bored with the same old Vampire and/or Werewolf tales
and who are need of something fresh. I also recommend this film to the love birds out there. In closing I would
like to say (without giving anything away) shame on you Edward for doing that to Bella, and shame on you too
Bella for doing it to Jacob!!! Shame, shame, shame!!! Now stop reading reviews and watch the movie!!!!!!!!

I'm Not a Twilight Fan but. . .

I'm not a big Twilight fan, I like the movies, but I cannot read the books. I just can't read about high school anymore, since I haven't been there in so long.

However, the movies are entertaining enough. The music is great (love their choice of Bon Iver and Lykke Li in this one), and the look is very stylized. It's a beautiful movie, especially the scenes in the woods.

I don't think the acting is amazing. I love Kristen Stewart in other movies (like Speak) but I find her to be flat here. Still, that's sort of her thing. I'm hoping she'll become more comfortable in her own skin as she gets older and we'll see even better acting out of her. She's okay as the main character, she's endearing in some ways, but sometimes you lose interest in her own self-loathing. Still, there's something about her that's always made her one of my favorite actresses. She's not a common beauty, and she's not bubbly, but she's interesting because of that. I'm glad they chose her, despite the fact that I don't think she's quite taken this lead the way I think she could (and hope she will!).

I have to say though, that the relationship between Bella and Edward to me is cold. I don't feel any connection between the two of them other than a sexual one. They don't really communicate well. I could not find any reason why they liked each other except that they found each other attractive. But when she was with Jacob, I actually felt a connection there. They seemed much more in tune and much more compatible. So, I was of course disappointed that the nice, dependable guy was ditched for the mysterious jerk. But I guess that's why I want to see the next one so bad. I just hope they work on Bella and Edward's awkwardness toward each other.

As for the guys, yes, they're good-looking. But I don't think that carries the movie. In my eyes, it's got all the components of a classic chick-flick; It's entertaining, there's not much thought involved, and it's easy to watch, with hunky guys and beautiful scenery. But I think guys will be able to handle it as well because they've added some action, adventure, and danger to the mix. I say this because I know a few guys who won't admit it outright, but were obviously engrossed in the movie when we watched it.

I bought it because I like the series and I'm going to collect them all. I can't say whether or not people who aren't Twilight fans like me are going to like it as much as I did. I liked it, and I can only really speak for myself. It was a good movie. I was entertained. And I'm excited to see the next one.

10 Stars for this Awesome Movie!!

Hey Everyone,
I am a Huge Twilight Fan so Yes, this DVD is a Must Have!!
Very True to the Book and I Love the way The Cullens and The Wolves look in
this movie!! Much better and older looking than in Twilight!
But I still Love Both Movies!! If you have never seen it, here is what the
DVD says. Please note that I added a few things, but this gives you an idea.
The romance between mortal Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen grows more
intense. But with many against the two ever becoming together, Edward decides
it's best to leave, thinking he is keeping her safe from his world and others
like him. But Bella can't bear to be without him. After realizing that testing fate is a way to keep him alive, by seeing a glimpse of him whenever she does
something reckless, she thinks she can move on. But when she's saved from the brink by her best friend, Jacob Black, Bella soon uncovers more mysteries of the supernatural world that will put her in more peril than ever before,
and it's up to her to save the love of her life before she looses him forever.
"The Next Chapter Begins" This is a Great Movie to see and if you have not
already, then please do! Thanks for listening and God Bless Everyone!!
Love and Peace Always!! A-:)

A very good sequel

New Moon takes up right where Twilight left off. This sequel is just as entertaining as the original movie and fans will not be disappointed. Bella (Kristen Stewart) is celebrating her birthday and the others have all planned a party for her. From there things take off and we find out that the Vampires are not the only things that are around town. When he realizes that his presence is endangering the life of Bella, Edward (Robert Pattinson) decides to take off and leave everything he loves behind.

This is a very good sequel to the award winning movie Twilight and the viewer will get caught up in the saga just like in the first movie.

Additional Case includes: Alex Meraz, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke, Bronson Pelletier, Cameron Bright, Charlie Bewley, Chaske Spencer, Christopher Heyerdahl, Dakota Fanning, and Tyson Houseman

If you enjoyed the first movie, you will love this one.
