"The film succeeds...because it treats high school emotions with unwavering, uncompromising seriousness."
Los Angeles Times - Kenneth Turan (11/21/2008)

Entertainment Weekly - Owen Gleiberman (11/28/2008)

"Props to Kristin Stewart, 18, and Robert Pattinson, 22, for playing this uncool-girl-meets-undead-boy with genuine romantic ardor. They're both terrific."

LOVE VS BLOOD

Features Actors:Kristen Stewart,Robert Pattinson,Billy Burke,Cam Gigandet, Peter Facinelli
Running Time:122 Min.
Rating:PG-13

Based on the popular novel by Stephenie Meyer.

Twilight plays out conveniently in the fog-shrouded rural woodlands of the rainy state of Washington, where local vampires can apparently roam free at all hours of the day since the punishing sun rarely shines. Bella (Kristen Stewart) is a moody teen loner who relocates from Mom's home in Arizona to the town of Forks (a particular implement hardly necessary for undead dining), to live with her police officer divorced dad (Billy Burke).
When Bella shows up for her first day at school, she's instantly and mutually attracted to a strangely handsome boy (Robert Pattinson) in a mad crush at first sight encounter. Edward is part of the peculiar, wild-eyed outcast Cullen clan of matriculated sibling foster kids who occupy a separate nook of the school cafeteria, and seem to be shockingly dating each other. Infatuation soon turns to obsession, and eventually Bella figures out that Edward is a descendant of the undead, something that's a whole lot faster to deduce these days what with the Internet, when one can simply google a vampire to out him.

Hope this helps you decide.A must see for any vampire fan, such as in True Blood, or Moonlight,Underworld and the classic, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This has had mixed reviews from the book VS the movie, so the choice is yours to make if you have already read the book and want to watch it on screen now. Thanks for reading! :)

great movie

Twilight is a 2008 romantic-fantasy film. It is the first film in The Twilight Saga film series, directed by Catherine Hardwicke and based on the novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer. It focuses on the development of a personal relationship between human teenager Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), and the subsequent efforts of Cullen and his family to keep Swan safe from a separate group of hostile vampires.

The project was in development for approximately three years at Paramount Pictures, during which time a screen adaptation which differed significantly from the novel was written. Summit Entertainment acquired the rights to the novel after three years of the project's stagnant development. Melissa Rosenberg wrote a new adaptation of the novel shortly before the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike and sought to be faithful to the novel's storyline. Principal photography took 44 days,[4] and completed on May 2, 2008.[5] The film was primarily shot in Washington and Oregon in early 2008.[6]

A Vampire Movie for Everyone Including Me.

There has not been a shortage for the craving of the general public to watch vampire movies.

Twilight is one of those movies that seem to cater to the teenage and female group. I don't think this is a minus for the film, however, it seems very slow in places and makes you wonder why the director went in certain directions at the times he did. The Indian Wolf Subplot was a little hard to swallow as well.

Bella and Edward, the two characters that fall in love, played by Kristin Stewart and Robert Pattinson, seem to be perfect for one another. This love brings itself forward and forces the characters to try and deal with the fact that Edward is a vampire and lives with a group of vampires. They all seem to get along with the out-cast human until things get a little hairy but the end turns out to resolve all those issues.

I'll have to give this movie a 4/5 regardless, since it does a few interesting spots and is not overtly grotesque.

Great movie, with or without the Blu-ray Format!!

SPOILER ALERT: do not read this review if you are not familiar with the story or are uncomfortable with hearing about it!

This is a great movie. While some have mentioned that it is different from the book, it is not really that different, and besides, what movie doesn't deviate from the book a little? Not only that, but Stephenie Meyer seemed to think it was true enough to the book; originally it was to be made by a different film company, but she decided against it because the original company had changed it too much!
What makes this a good movie: there are some beautifully interpreted and well-done scenes (the meadow scene comes to mind here, as does the bridge from the ballet studio segment to the hospital segment), the movie boasts a great soundtrack, with songs from Radiohead, Collective Soul, Muse, and Paramore, among others. There are even two tracks by Robert Pattinson himself! Another plus: great casting. The actors are great for their roles, and choosing Robert Pattinson to play the role of Edward was pure genius!
I highly recommend this movie. There are many movies that I cannot watch more than once, but this one I have already watched at least six times. On a final note, I highly recommend shoppers to look for the version that was originally sold exclusively at Target (though this version is not available in the Blu-ray format). It has special scenes that the other DVDs don't have: one, it has an extended scene of Carlisle making Edward and Esme into vampires; two, it has a deleted scene showing Edward killing Bella! (This being representative of Edward thinking of it, not actually doing it).
So for those not sure whether to buy or not, I say you definitely should. Buy the regular Target edition AND the Blu-ray (like I did!) Then lean back, and enjoy the show!

Twilight (blu-ray)

Twilight is infamous for being infested by mindless fangirls, and for being a saga without a decent plot. But I decided I would give the film adaptation a chance, and I wasn't disappointed. I was underwhelmed, to be more accurate. But to be fair, it's very easy to be underwhelmed by a film of this nature because it received loads of hype. So when you sit down and actually watch it, your expectations are very high. This film, as predicted, did not reach those expectations.

My first gripe about Twilight was that it seemed too long. Telling the story of how an adolescent girl finds out that an adolescent boy is a vampire, then falling in love with him should not take over 2 hours. But then again, it's understandable because the book is fairly long, and there would be lots of complaints if certain scenes did not go into the movie adaptation. But still, somewhere around 115 minutes would have been better.

The acting surely isn't the best you will ever see, but I've seen lots worse as well. The film had a good cast of young actors, and Robert Pattinson was the film's standout. I think if he stays focused and keeps his head on straight, Pattinson might just be one of the acting elite in the future. Kristen Stewart's acting was nothing more than okay, and left a lot to be desired in my opinion. Everyone else did a pretty good job.

This film also had some pretty cool action scenes, but nothing in the league of The Matrix, Kill Bill, or anything like that.

Twilight has its flaws, but on the plus side of things, it's entertaining and original. Its not your typical vampire film and if you watch it with that in mind you should be alright. I haven't read the books so I don't have the comparison.
