Movie synopsis
Secret agent Harry Tasker (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is a busy man; when he's not saving the world from terrorists, he's under cover as a boring computer salesman, juggling the everyday needs of his wife, Helen (Jamie Lee Curtis), and his daughter. While Harry and his partner, Gib (Tom Arnold), work to stop a gang of international terrorists from getting their hands on missing nuclear weapons, Helen, feeling neglected, begins a covert affair with a sleazy used car salesman pretending to be a spy. When Harry finds out, he decides to give Helen a lesson in spy games, which backfires when the couple is kidnapped and stuck in the middle of an international terrorist crisis. Director James Cameron topped his previous spectaculars with this action-comedy extravaganza (the most expensive film ever made before TITANIC), featuring amazing stunts and special effects. Actual Harrier jets were hired from the U.S Air Force for their sequence, while production dangled from a skyscraper over the streets of Miami for the amazing climax. TRUE LIES is based on a 1991 French spy comedy entitled LA TOTALE! (Translation: THE JACKPOT).

everyone WANTS to be a spy~ OH but then Harry is~ FUN~

PLOT: BORING Harry Tasker (Arnold) is a computer salesman who is happily married to Helen~(Jamie Lee Curtis) BUT Harry is really a spy and has lied to everyone~ BUT why is Helen suddenly telling some LIES of her own?

WHAT A FUN ADVENTURE~ Harry has it all a GREAT "cover" for his spying activities as the boring "computer salesman" why he puts his WIFE to sleep with his stories~ suddenly he learns HELEN is tell "lies" of her own and he suspects she is having an AFFAIR....suddenly Harry is wildly jealous and the fun begins with the man Helen is sneaking around with a SLEAZY liar trying to fake her into being a fake spy so he can have an affair with her~ Helen is clueless.... the part where Arnie and the CIA tracks down Helen and the "fake" spy is hilarious~ so Harry decides to GIVE HELEN (CURTIS) SOME REAL LESSONS in spying~ meanwhile~ they are both KIDNAPPED BY REAL TERRORISTS~ CONFUSED...sure~ that is the fun of all the "lies" they suddenly ADD up~ Arnold and Curtis shine when they "team" up to escape the terroristS and defuse some bombs~ the thrills are there from frame one to the end~ great chase scene with a helicopter and a limousine on a high way with AN INCOMPLETE BRIDGE~ THE SPECIAL EFFECTS MAKE YOU GASP AND the humor is there. EXCELLENT writing in this one. James Cameron (Titanic) directed it and every scene is funny and thrilling~ it flows along and after the confusion of all the lies clears we see the plot supply switch to high geat when Harry and Helen's daughter is KIDNAPPED BY THE TERRORIST TO MANIPULATE THEM EVEN MORE~ TOM ARNOLD is a side character and in this one does a very good job a a spy buddy of Arnolds~AND Tia Carrera as a "female" terrorist~ who is a real scene stealer~ one of the BEST and the special effects are OUTSTANDING~ EXCELLENT~ ADVENTURE~

I GIVE IT A SOLID 10 OUT OF 10 FOR THRILLS, FUN AND HUMOR~

As fun as it gets!

This big-budget action film provides the perfect blend of action and humor. Fast, fun, and always clever. Quite violent, with lots of exciting stunts (although the most the real show-stopper scene would have to be Jamie Lee Curtis' strip-tease.) Although Schwarzenegger never rings quite true in the domestic scenes, the chemistry between him and Curtis was terrific. Tom Arnold was never better (before or since) playing the best comic-relief sidekick ever.

Disappointingly few features on the DVD. One burning question remains: with all the crappy movies that are followed by crappier sequels (hello "Children of the Corn" I and II), why was there never a "True Lies II"?

Funny and good spy cam stuff

I enjoyed this movie and found it to be a great comedy. A computer sales guy hides his true identity to his wife (Jamie Lee Curtis) when he really is an agent. Helen Tasker begins to feel not wanted and needs more excitement in her life. She begins meeting men at coffee shops for her writing and guys show up after reading an interesting article in the paper making her believe he is the guy. Albert Gibson stops at their house to pick up Mr. Tasker for their missions. He places a spy cam cigarette pack on the counter and sees their daughter take money. They eventually find his wife meeting men at the coffee shop and pretend to set her up. It is quite funny and one of my favorites.

One of the Govenator's Best

Arnold did "COME BACK" In 1994, when this movie was released, the critics slandered it terribly yet all us action movie lovers that like Arnold went wild for it. Opening scene was fantastic, exciting and almost believable from start to finish with Charlton Heston putting up a great Cameo appearance as Arny's boss and head of a super secret Government anti-terrorism faction. It's a plot of James Bond caliber and beyond. The cast was superb and who didn't love Arny commandeering a Harrier to seek retribution and protect the USA against terrorists with nukes? Bill Paxton played a great part as did Jamie Lee Curtis transforming from a mousy housewife to a hot bodied super spy contractor, 15 years before she became the "Activa Yogurt" lady.

A great action film with an awesome cast

True Lies - Great action film with an awesome cast

Crazy story, an amazing cast, and superb direction makes True Lies one of the best Arnie films of all time.

Arnold, Jamie Lee, Bill Paxton, and Tom Arnold round out a prefect cast. True Lies is one of the funniest action films ever made.

Final Verdict:

5/5

Rent or Buy?: This film is definitely worth buying, it's great action that doesn't take itself too seriously, and you'll laugh every single time you watch it.
