This is the classic movie of the Robert Louis Stevenson book, Treasure Island, finally out on DVD. Wallace Beary & Jackie Cooper are far superior to the Disney version with Robert Newton and a goody-too-shoes boy actor. Like many classic movies, this one follows the book very closely. A must see for any Treasure Island or Long John Silver fan.
The other entries on the DVD are worthless.
Seeing Gary Cooper as a young teenager is a delight. The Movie follows the book fairly well and has many early movie stars that went on to very illustrious careers in screen and stage play. I used the movie as a support for a study of the classic novel.
Wow! What a window into a different time... on a different planet. The B&W footage of the pristine coast of California is great. The subtle and no-so-subtle double entendres are a hoot.
