A team of Civil War veterans (John Wayne, Rod Taylor, Ben Johnson), aiding the the widow of a former train robber, set out to recover a half-million dollars worth of stolen gold bullion. The widow is Ann Margaret, and she just wants to recover the gold and return it and clear her husband's name. The trio want to aid her and collect the $50,000 reward for it's return. Her husband's ex-partners are also on the trail, but for the gold, and they are willing to kill for it!
Heading across the border into Mexico, they soon discover another group who is after the gold. Ricardo Montalban is a Pinkerton man, and he has a scruffy band of banditos riding with him. This movie has that "rollicking" sort of mood cast with very colorful characters, with real two fisted action. This is a really enjoyable John Wayne western.
A Great and powerful movie starring the late John Wayne. Any fan of his will love this movie as I did. Also its a must have for the collection. Full of action from the very beginning, you will not be disapointed with this film.
The one and only John Wayne is in his mature phase of acting and he won't disappoint you with this movie! The plot is the same as most John Wayne movies, Help the widow lady get her possessions (Gold) that her dead husband hid from the bad guys.
Would have been much better without Ann Margaret. The story line wouldn't have suffered at all without her. Good action scenes for little kids who just got their first BB gun for their birthday. Rod Taylor was great!
