I bought this to avoid 6 pages of mapquest and struggling to read it as I drove.
I really like the display and how you can change it for night viewing so it won't blind you as you drive. Also, if you pull off for gas it will recalculate to give you instructions back to the highway. Will do the same if you get off track for any reason!
Hearing the turn warnings is great and saves making the wrong turn!
You don't have to mount the thing, but can set it anywhere up in front of you. I like the fact you can program your destination easily (and I'm not techno saavy so this is a HUGE deal). Also you can put in your destination at your kitchen table and then not start it until you want to! YAY!
It came with car charger. I was surprised by a LOUD MOO sound while driving and found out this was a warning I was over 5 mph over the speed limit. Ichanged the sound (you can select which one you want or none at all). It did probably save me from a ticket! If you drive to unknown places or forget your way this is a wonderful gadget! I love it!
TomTom sets the gold standard for GPSs and this one is no exception on its category.
This specific model just functions: turn it on and after a few seconds it is up and running beautifully.
TomTom should work MUCH more on the user interface, though.
The icons are good-sized and well designed but accessing simple and usually used functions is often cumbersome and requires unnecessary multi-steps - like changing the brightness of the screen, or experimenting with different visions of selected maps, or storing favorites locations.
Besides that, its build is excellent, the sound's great and the screen size is quite comfortable.
Before deciding on the TomTom I also tried a comparable featured Garmin and Magellan in a Costco store.
This product was a gift to a family. The person that receive the item was very happy with the item. He explained that everything worked perfectly fine and the function in the menu was easy-to-use. The screen was wide and more focus. It was also thinner than the previous TomTom One. The item is a plus but there is a few things that need to be adjusted. The original mount for the TomTom One was better than the one that came with this product. It can't be removed or adjusted to personal view. Overall, this item is excellent and would be recommended.
The TomTom is easy to use and was very easy to use the one free update on the maps. It gives clear directions and doesn't have the "recalculating" issue that some other GPS units have.
The TomTom is very easy to use and user friendly. It's more intuitive than my old Magellan 1412, but larger in size and not as thin. It still fits in my pocket, however.
