Umm I just bought it (Being unable to find it in the local stores) and it arrived today, I watched it and well it was a very odd movie... Not really bad to say but just different. I originally wanted to watch it because a friend recommened it and also because Jodelle Ferland is amazing but I dunno it's one of those movies that are just really hard to get into. I did though (Get into it that is) but it wasn't until like the last fifteen minutes of the movie up until then I just found myself saying "what the hell?" alot. The acting was really amazing in it Jodelle Ferland and Jeff Bridges give admirable preformancces as always and the supporting actors do their parts well enough as well, sadly the movie suffers from an underdeveloped plot and a difficult to keep up with way of telling it. The visuals and camera work are rather nice though I found myself wishing there was a blu-ray version of this so the colors of some of the shots could come busting out more because the movie has numerous scenes where the scaping is quiet beautiful.
I really don't recommend this movie overall it's a little boring up until the end but you might like it so if you're interested in seeing it you might wanna give it a watch but I wouldn't pay over $8.00 to watch it which is about what I payed roughly.

FINAL NOTES: Had amazing potenial but was squandered by lack of direction and overall failure to development the plot perhaps another director for tideland 2 is there ever is such a thing?
Thats my two cents I hope this helps
Young Jelyza Rose is a wonderfully talented girl mislead by her faulty childhood. Following her footsteps through her parent's tainted conceptions, this story reveals the life and times of a lonely, yet wholly fulfilled, alien child able to amuse herself in bizarre ways. Featuring a unique and talented cast, "Tideland" made for a wondrous and magical bedtime story. No more than a simple modern fairy tale for people who choose not to grow up, this story is as beautiful as it is disturbingly wonderful.
Tho I’m a big fan of Terry Gilliam, Tideland is a bit beyond me. Not a bad film by any means and certainly Jodelle Ferland (Jeliza-Rose) as a bright future ahead of her. It’s just not what I’m looking for in a film.
Still, for those who do like movies that explore the inner workings of the mind, this might be an interesting film to watch. The imagery is quite compelling and the underwater scene is a must see.
For me, the ending is a bit of a let down. I was left feeling there was so much more to left to explore. Certainly the disturbed young girl (and disturbed she should be with what she’s had to go through) still has a long way to go either in her recovery or in her downward spiraling towards madness.
However as Terry Gilliam says in the Intro... Children tend to bounce back, they are made to survive!
I rented this movie with my boyfriend and it was unlike any other movie. It's about a little girl that her parents are drug addicts and she doesn't really realize what is going on. She is left in a house to herself with some strange neighbors and a boy that becomes her best and only friend there. She lives in her own world in her mind and sees things different from what they really are. It's a really twisted movie!
The imagination of a little girl is in the centre, in this weird (and kind of heartwarming) movie by the genious Terry Gilliam. Its not about moral or justice, its about a little girls will to live through her fantasies.
