Review For: Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Fight Terrorism and Build Nations--One School at a Time by David Oliver Relin and Greg Mortenson (2006, Unabridged, Compact Disc)
I bought this book for book club, and want to thank my daughter-in-law, for the most inspiring book I've read in years. What a special man!! You will be so inspired by this book, you will want to adopt one of his schools. I sat down to read one chapter, and ended up reading the first 160+ pages at one sitting. Excellent writing, wonderful story, inspiring for anyone who believes in education, and especially for the girls in third world countries. My hero in this book is Haji Ali, who started this whole mission for his grandchildren. What a wonderful man!! And the other village elders in Pakistan & Afghanistan who also opened their hearts to education for their children & grandchildren. And of course, Greg Mortenson and his family, who are working to keep this dream growing. YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK. Thank you!!!!

Worth Buying and Listening to

A friend involved in polio eradication suggested I read this book to help understand why it has been so impossible to complete the process in some countries and regions of the world. I bought the audio book so I could listen to it in my car.
I found myself completely drawn into the story. I couldn't stop listening and brought it into the house. The writing is fast-paced and interesting with a lot of suspense and emotion. The reader did a great job of breaking up the many voices and accents in the story so it never got boring or old. A real eye-opener about Pakistan and Afghanistan; set in current times and relevant to understanding todays conflicts in South Asia and the Muslim States.
I think altogether the audio version is about 12 hours long.
Be sure your CD player can handle MP3 audio.

Humanity-driven Thriller

Review For: Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Fight Terrorism and Build Nations--One School at a Time by David Oliver Relin and Greg Mortenson (2006, Unabridged, Compact Disc)
Three Cups of Tea is an amazing story of a man who makes tremendous difference in the lives of people who had practically nothing, in an way that was not driven by ambition, fame, a political or idealogical motive, or typical rich man-charity. Instead, the man is driven by pure, unadulterated humanity, and to top that off, he has the adventure-stamina of an Indiana Jones.
Truly a MUST read!

My son is a 9th grader, and not a reader at all, but his english class required him to read it. He read every night. He even read ahead. I would recommend this book to everyone.

This book is excellent! If it doesn't affect you in some way, you were asleep when you read it. Follow it up with "Stones into Schools."
