Wonderful movie, heartwarming and a story that stirred emotions deep within regarding my love towards wild creatures, especially geese because they mate for life. I hate hunting season.
We loved the awesome fall scenary and then the beautiful cabin in the snowy woods, a real "Norman Rockwell" setting.
Was all around pretty wholesome movie for entire family.
We showed it to our church friends who also loved this movie. The older generation appretiated seeing the actors who were popular in their days.
Is a movie we'll certainly watch again and again...especially in the fall.
Tks for making this classic movie available!
This film is often looked over in the Disney canon, though it should not be. It is, in my opinion, a true masterpiece of cinema. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Brian Keith, Vera Miles, Brandon DeWilde, Walter Brennan, Ed Wynn, Linda Evans and Tom Skerritt. The scenery is amazing thanks to on-location filming in New England. It is a moving film about a family living in the wilderness who struggle with change, among other things. They try to get by in a changing landscape by selling furs while at the same time trying to establish a sanctuary for migrating Canadian geese. This movie is a cinematic treasure and should be in anyone's film library. This is the only time it has been available on DVD [and either the second or only time it's been available to own on home video]. And with it being released on DVD in 2004 this is becoming harder and harder to find. Buy it and hopefully you too will see the greatness in this film that I do. "Those Calloways" are not to be missed!
A childhood favorite of mine is now a favorite of my grandchildren. A story of family, spiritualism and love of wild geese--and the freedom that they represent. One of Brian Keith's best.
Almost all of the old Disney movies I've enjoyed, and this one is ok, but not at the top of my list. This is a good movie, more with a message of conservation. Brian Keith and family are trying to make a living in the wilderness and preserve wildlife at the same time. We see their struggles and triumphs.
It was a very interesting and educational movie .I bought this product because I thought it would be a good family movie and it proved me correct.this product compares to some of the better movies.
