After a nightmare involving a certain young princess and the evil thief Ganondorf, series hero Link wakes up in his home village tucked away behind the mysterious Lost Woods. The only Kokiri without a fairy, Link soon meets up with his new traveling companion, the winged Navi, and sets out on the adventure of his life. The quest, which inevitably turns into a rescue mission for Princess Zelda, leads players through dark dungeons, picturesque villages, into the heart of a volcano, to the bottom of a lake, through a haunted desert, deep into a magical forest, into a giant tree, the belly of a beast, and even through time. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D couples enhanced graphics with glasses-free 3D visuals, while a streamlined touch-screen interface and newly implemented motion controls provide a fresh and intuitive feel. The game also features the Master Quest - a second quest with revamped puzzles and redesigned dungeons that feature the same graphical and interface upgrades as the main game.

LEGEND OF ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME, GREATEST VIDEO GAME OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

I have not played the 3DS version of this game any more than turning it on to make sure it worked for feedback purposes, but being that it's a clone of the N64 version I didn't have any issues to write this review (except for the master quest which I cannot comment on). But seriously, wow, this game by FAR is ARGUEABLY and probably IS the GREATEST VIDEO GAME OF ALL TIME! The graphics are wonderful, it's the first 3D world for Link, you can ride a horse, the game is HUGE, it's very challeging (Especially the water temple, and being how annoying the menu system was for the N64 version, I'm looking forward to experiencing that temple with what looks like improved control for switching items on the 3DS system. (that is probably my only gripe about the N64 version), the dungeons are awesome, the enemies are great, items, secrets, games and side missions, all things that have become a staple of the series. The sound is great, the music is great, the contrl style is good, very easy to use, and the control style for this game has basically become the norm for every Zelda game that has followed it (Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword). There are a lot of things to do in this game, so if you don't feel like going forth on your quest to save Hyrule, hunt for some Skultula's (at night) or go fishing, or collect some chickens, or just go exploring on the gigantic hyrule field. There is seriously so much to do in this game, it's truly great. So much bank for your buck. Seriously, did I mention this is THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME! Ride Epona, or play a tune on your Ocarina, and go back and forth between time (7 years) as the need arises, to get more items and unlock special things within the game. Find heart containers, etc...etc... This game should DEFINITELY be in your collection. No, no, IT SHOULD! BUY IT! You won't regret it! How can you call yourself a gamer without THIS ONE!? I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! You absolutely can't go wrong with this one! (Unless the game doesn't work, in which case you may need to contact the seller you bought it from, but mine works so I'm very happy). No, wait, what are you doing still reading this review!? Ridiculous! Stop reading and go bid on this item! Get an N64 version or the Gamecube collectors version, or the 3DS version, whatever, it doesn't really matter what platform, but you need to play this gmae! SERIOUSLY! (Oh, by the way, with the Gamecube collectors version you'll have 4 classic Zelda titles to choose from, the original, Zelda II, The Adventure's of Link, Majora's Mask, and this one of course. I was never a huge fan of Majora's Mask though I really didn't give it much of a chance I guess because I didn't like the pressure of being timed on everything the entire time. But no okay, I guess it's good if you kept reading because I may have given you some information that you didn't know. Yeah, you can mess with chickens too! It's great to mess with the chickens. Ever since Link to the Past (SNES) I've loved to do that. But no, great game across the board. DID I MENTION GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME! TRY IT!

The Legend enters the Third Dimension

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

It's not an easy thing, remaking such a beloved video game as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Is it even possible to improve upon a game that many already consider to be perfection? With The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Nintendo proves it can be done. For those who have never experienced this classic game before, players are introduced to the young Hylian Link, who is forced to embark on a perilous journey to rescue the young Princess Zelda after she is kidnapped by the evil Ganondorf. Players must master the power of the legendary Ocarina of Time in order to chase this merciless villain and his royal prisoner into the dark, bleak future. While the story remains untouched, Nintendo has made a few dramatic improvements, the largest of which is to the game’s graphics. The game makes excellent use of the 3DS’ graphical processing power, allowing gamers to see the beauty of Hyrule in a whole new light. The 3DS capabilities of the console make this journey even more immersive. The already excellent boss battles truly come to life in full, glorious 3D. There is really nothing like watching an enemy’s arrow fly straight through your console’s screen, while dodging an ill-willed spear lunging straight towards you. Despite this exciting feature, gamers should use the 3D cautiously; playing for long periods of time can seriously hinder or blur your vision. In addition, the console’s gyroscope function can occasionally cause the view of the game to falter. Luckily, the circle pad can be used as an alternative to the gyroscope, which can quickly and easily be turned off. While Nintendo gave the graphics a complete overhaul, they left the legendary soundtrack virtually untouched, which once again proves their mastery of past and present. While I personally believe there is no such thing as a “bad Zelda game”, none of the franchise’s subsequent entries could match the fluidity of OoT’s excellent lock-on system, which returns untouched in this fantastic update, along with a much less irritating Navi. Of course gamers can expect the memorable cast of characters from the original OoT, alongside the original epic quest, which can take close to 30 hours to complete in its entirety. However, if that isn’t enough for you, Nintendo has packed in the “Master Quest”, a much more difficult version of the game, which unlocks at the end of your first playthrough. Whether you’re riding through Hyrule Field on Epona, or chasing Ganondorf through time with the power of the Ocarina, Nintendo proves that the game which defined an entire generation is still as fresh and entertaining as it was 13 years ago.

A fresh re-release of the Greatest Video Game of all time.

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Ocarina of Time, the game that went down in history. At the time of it's release in 1998 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time stunned the world and video game players worldwide while at the same time set the standard that all RPG games would then follow from thereafter. From the full fledged 3D over-world, the in depth story line from the graphics and characters right down to the complexity that all Zelda games hold true to, this game did it all WAY ahead of its time. Although it has been released two times after it's original release this fourth re-iteration of the game just proves once again that this game continues to live on even more than 10 years after its debut. While still holding onto the original story line and game play Nintendo has still managed to add just enough new material and functionality to the game to keep it interesting to those who may have even played this game all the way through before. The game is filled with beautifully polished 3D rendered graphics, complex and directionally oriented sounds and very fluid and accurate controls. This game is a perfect rendition of a Classic Zelda game and all that Nintendo's latest technology has to offer. There is something for everyone in this game and I would recommend that you buy it if you already own a 3DS or are considering to get one. This game alone should be the deciding factor to get a 3DS system if you are still considering it.

A kinda lazy remake with only a little bit of notable new content.

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Some of you may have already noticed that I rated this game 3 stars and I'm sure for most of you that is enough to warrant me the death penalty. For those of you who don't know, Ocarina of Time is widely considered to be one of the greatest video games of all time and I full heartedly agree. Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time basically defined 3D gaming and even today their gameplay mechanics are common staples in nearly every 3D game. Ocarina of Time has tight controls, a timeless story, unforgettable characters, and a decent amount of content making it one of the best games Nintendo has ever put out. For this very reason though, I don't think this remake really gives it justice.

Most of the updates in this game revolve around the graphics. Everything looks significantly better than N64 version but, then again, the visuals on most N64 games have not aged well at all. The visuals also detract from the experience because it makes you realize some of the flaws in the original game like, for example, how creepily empty a good portion of the game is despite Hyrule supposedly being a thriving country. It looks nice but the improved visuals don't really add anything to the experience. If you want a good example of how improved visuals can enhance a remake, refer to my review on the Resident Evil Remake for the Gamecube.

There really is not too much new content in this game either. They added a boss rush mode, which is a nice addition, and I'm happy that this is slowly becoming a regular thing in Zelda games. Once you beat the game you also unlock "Master Quest" which is the same game but with brand new puzzles set on a much higher difficulty. Back in 2002, this was a preorder gift for the Wind Waker and a lot of people, including myself, missed out on it so it's nice that they included it in the game especially since it now costs up to 100 bucks here on eBay. While these are good additions, they feel tacked on which isn't good for a game that Nintendo has already rereleased 3 times before in the past in 2002 (Master Quest), 2003 (Zelda Collection), and 2007 (Virtual Console).

In the end, Ocarina of time is an amazing game but if you've been playing video games for as long as I have, you've probably already played it to completion close into double digits. Everybody raves about the original, and for good reason, but this game is merely a remake with some slight differences. I would really only recommend this remake if you've never played the original before or if you feel that you absolutely have to play Master Quest. If you simply want to relive Ocarina of Time, I would recommend getting this on the Wii's virtual console for 10 bucks instead.

if you ever wanted to play OoT on the go, then get this game.

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

The gameplay for the remake is very similar to the original version, albeit with some modifications made to the game. One new feature is the use of the touch screen to switch out items, boots, and tunics. Also, the touch screen is used at times to play the Ocarina notes. The game uses the system's gyroscopic technology to look around and aim the player's bow, boomerang, hookshot, longshot and slingshot in first-person mode, unless the player chooses to use the classic analog stick control to aim. The 3DS version has the modified Master Quest dungeons and mirrored overworld in addition to the original game, and a new "Boss Challenge" mode that allows the player to fight all of the bosses one at a time, or in sequential order, while the Master Quest has its own version of the "Boss Challenge" mode, where the boss arenas are mirrored and enemies will do twice the usual amount of damage. Another new addition is the inclusion of optional brief video clips called "Visions" that serve as casual hints in case some new players get lost or have trouble solving the game's numerous puzzles. It was also revealed that the Stone of Agony is replaced with the Shard of Agony, which serves the same purpose, only with a sound signal to inform the players of secrets nearby. This is due to the fact that there is no equivalent to the rumble feature on the 3DS. The Iron Boots and Hover Boots can now be equipped on one of the item buttons instead of switching the boots in the equipment sub-screen.
