Review For: The Encyclopedia of Regional Dolls of the World by Marjory Fainges (2001, Hardcover)
I purchased it for the purpose of identifying a collection of foreign made dolls that I had purchased and wished to list on EBay. It provided some help, I was able to identify a number of regions and occasionally a doll maker. It speaks a great deal about the customs and heritage of different regions. I liked that it was set up alphabetically, if you thought that a doll looked as if it came from Romania, it was easy to look up. It was a good book but did not cover the subject as well as I thought it would and that's probably my shortcoming. There doesn't seem to be an all inclusive book about dolls in any region of the world.
