Its not a classic like STAGECOACH, THE SEARCHERS or RIO BRAVO, but a John Wayne western is still a John Wayne western! If you are like me, you know that the Dukes never fails to deliver, even when the story is so-so, or the cast is forgetable. Which is not the case here: the story is decent enough, and there is a great supporting cast with Stuart Whitman (I would have LOVED to see Rio Bravo's Dean Martin in this role for even more chemistry), the always interesting Nehemiah Persoff, Duke's son Patrick Wayne, and awesome Lee Marvin, who steals the show in the all too short part of the movie he shares the screen with the Duke.
Among the John Wayne westerns, it's in the same category as THE WAR WAGON, THE TRAIN ROBBERS, and BIG JAKE.
This is, of course, another GREAT John Wayne movie. Beautiful landscape, excellent action, great acting by all the actors/actresses. Terrific storyline. Great all-around Western.
John Wayne, that says alot. This movie has a great plot, alot of action and alot of humor. I love to watch older movies to see the way the culture was in those days. If you like horses running through beatiful country, crooks getting theres in the end and John Wayne this movie is for you.
good movie brought a lot of old memories when my grandpa used to watch the movie . Honestly i thought it was boring when i was a small kid but as i got older i actually sat down and watched movie and now john Wayne movies are one of the best movie classics i watch now
Was the Western I ever saw in my life- my father took me to a cinema in Germany when I was around 7 years old. Then I found this movie on DVD and decides to wathc it again 45 years later!
