I Will Always Love You!

Just one of my many fav. Whitney Houston songs..I cannot believe she let her wonderful career go for Bobby Brown and drugs..it's sad how far down drugs can drag you!! This film is about the love two very different people can have if they give it a chance..A beautiful powerful voiced singer falls for her Bodyguard a tough as nails ex cia operative takes a job protecting a spoiled rich Woman and her son..the ones close to her wont let her know just how much danger she's in until it's almost too late..This movie is filled with action, love, drama, danger and of course Ralph Waite ie Daddy John Walton..that tickled me to no end..Give this film a chance Whitney and Kevin deliver the goods..and the sountrack aint too bad either!! ;)

THE BODYGUARD (DVD, 2005)

I rated this movie a Four Star Film for the cast and general topic, but in content it probably isn't more than an average Three Star production. Kevin Costner is an ex-Secret Service agent who has been fired/suspended/whatever for punching out a nutcase Senator for using his position to sexually abuse a woman. He finds himself being interviewed for a position of bodyguard and personal security consultant for Rachel Marin, Whitney Houston, a top pop singer and movie star. She doesn't know it but there have been several credible threats on her life. Now, if he accepts the job, he has to protect her in spite of herself! Reluctantly, he takes the job, partly because of her young son, who is a nice little kid, seemingly on the fringe of a situation that could easily go bad, fast. Through several tussles between Houston and Costner, a "more than business" relationship begins. Costner wants out at this point because in this business, personal equals dangerous, for both him and her. Against his own better judgment he stays. Eventually, a stalker is caught, but Kostner feels that this danger runs much deeper than just a stalker. He finds out that Houston's sister, in a stroke of blind jealousy, hired a hitman from a "Soldier of Fortune" type of magazine to kill her, and now can't stop him. She was a really good singer too, but Whitney's looks and charisma always took the spotlight leaving her always as number two. The rest of the movie is in tracking this guy down before he is successful. Costner winds up killing this guy, but only after nearly being killed himself and the death of Whitney's sister. Overall, the overriding gist of this movie is the popularizing of the Whitney Houston musical hit "You Light up my Life". A less than great story, but with good, suspenseful, action and pretty good acting, even by Whitney Houston.

The Bodyguard (DVD, 1997)

I thought this movie was fabulous. Kevin Costner plays an ex-Secret Service agent hired to protect a spoiled, difficult to get along with diva receiving death threats. Whitney Houston portrays the spoiled starlet to perfection. The chemistry and interplay between Houston and Costner was electric. The music in the movie was also great.
There are really some key elements that made this movie extremely good. First, I thought the acting was top notch by all involved. The supporting cast really played their characters well, as did the stars. Secondly, the editing was outstanding. The movie and plot move along at a fast pace. There is not a dull moment in the entire movie. And finally, the plot was plausible (for the most part) and the mystery - who is the hit man - slowly reveals itself.

Overall I found it a most entertaining movie both as a mystery, a thriller, and love story.

the bodyguard

It is a story of a bodyguard and a famous singer and he falls in love with her and while he is doing his job as bodyguard to protect her from danger. what i like about the plot between the bodyguard and the singer. That the bodyguard is a serious about his job but the singer i see tries to get her to like her and succeeds. the action is about who is trying to kill her and remains a mystery until the end of the movie. What i love about the the movie there is a music video about a very popular Witney Houston song. And why i bought it because i saw the movie when it first came out. cool!

Just keeps getting better!

I'm a true fan of Kevin Costner and I loved how he acted in this film (superbly). I waited for a part 2 but it wasn't in the cards. Whitney Houston was no slouch either in this picture and it is one that promises extreme enjoyment for the romantic at heart. I truly intend to keep this in my DVD library for a very long time.
This movie just keeps getting better with every viewing.
