I plan to further my education taking high levels of math possibly majoring in engineering. this calculator is the most advance one without the computer component. that way you can use it on the sat act ect.
things i like: lightweight nice design colored so easier to graph and the set up. aslo the 3d is pretty cool too.
dislikes: only one thing it is a little hard to get use to if you have used ti84 and all the ones similar to it.
all in all i believe its a great calculator if your taking advance classes, visual person that needs the colors make it easier to graph, to use in a career using high math or even use in businesses. now if your just going to use for high school math just go with the ti 84 or ones similar you really don't need it plus your teachers use them in the classes so just stick with what you know
another bonus with this calculator you can connect with your computer so you can print graph and more
I absolutely loved this one after being used to the TI nspire, which although it was a scaringly powerful machine, I found it very hard to read its screen in many low-light situations and different viewing angles as it was not illuminated like this one. (Almost to the point of being a design deficiency, I think) Be aware that this is not a CAS calculator, which I had stupidly thought it was before I bought it. The CAS version will cost a bit more.
These calculators were a mandatory purchase for entering freshmen in our school district. When I went to a few stores to pricce them out, I found that they were in the $150-$160 range. I picked up this new one on ebay for $114, which was money used for other school supplies. Great product at a great price.
I bought it because i thought it could be useful at college since all we do there is calculate... and i was right. I needed to play with it for a day at first but now i save a lot of time using its functions like graphs, copy-paste, custom functions and programs, charts...
Storing text and pictures is great, too, but pictures aren't as clear as on computer and you can't zoom it either but since it was designed for calculation and not for picture viewing (and cheating whit it ;)) it is not such a big minus.
I bought this for my 16-year old son, and he likes it.
Its color screen is good for graphic calculation.
