TaylorMade R7 QUAD.......the best TaylorMade driver
Created: 02/06/08
I have owned a few TaylorMade drivers in the last 10 years, but I have to say this one is the best. The way the head sets up on the ground is a true players club. It is easy to align and looks great at address which gives you all the confidence you need. The Taylor stock grip is actually a pretty great design and is easy to align as well.
The stock shaft, while not as good as many upgrades available on the market, will suit 90% of the golfers who buy one. The kick point works well, but my only concern is that the ball seems to fly high with the degrees higher than the 9.5. You need to test your launch and get the best degree head for your swing or you can easily ballon the flight.
The weight system is a great design, but make sure you play around and test the different set ups. Also, do not think this weight system will help you if you have a slice or a hook. A bad swing is a bad swing and while the weights may help in ball flight, this is not a cure all. The weight system is a great technical design, but to many people feel it is a magic stick. I noticed the weights help amplify a ball flight, take a fade and fade it further for example. But you can not put a fade swing with the draw weights and think it will work.
Overall, this club is a great value. If you get one online through eBay there are fantastic deals out there for less than $250.00. For the dollar, there is not a better high name brand, quality built driver on the market.

r7 Quad Non Conforming Driver
Created: 01/09/07
This is my second TaylorMade driver. It is superior to the 580 (my previous driver). Off center hits are longer and straighter. I purchased a European model with a COR of 860 vs the US with a COR of 830. There is a noticeable difference at the point of contact. The ball jumps off the club face and is GONE. Unfortunately, the ball flight is considerably higher and thus the difference in distance is not what I expected. I normally drive between 250 and 300. I am getting between 10 and 15 yards more per driver vs. the 15 - 25 that you supposedly get. Maybe the impact would be greatly for someone who doesn't hit the ball as far. The r7 Quad uses moveable weights so you can alter the flight characteristics of your ball. Frankly, there is some change but signifcantly less than I was lead to believe. I fade the ball and moving the weight to "induce" draw straighted the flight path only slightly. Do buy a moveable weight club as the cure for a bad swing.

r7 QUAD-ranamic RH Driver Golf Club Weight System
Created: 01/25/06
Just to look at the r7 Quad I seen it meant business! The JET-like aerodynamics makes for a free flowing yet powerful swing, keeping club on track. The nicely weighted sole allows for ajustment to any Hacker or Pro for a great feel. The HUGE sweet spot is very forgiving, which makes for a great day on the course. I promised myself one of these drivers, but pricewise A little on the high side, But everyone knows the better the equipment the more fun and lower scores you will have. Man was it nice when I got up on the TEE and RIPPED IT!! I outdrove my best friend by 15 yards! Before I got the r7 QUAD by Taylormade he used to out drive me all day long, Not Anymore. The weight system allows for different swing planes... i.e.inside-to-out & outside-to-in, and you still hit the ball straight and long!! I would recommend this driver to ANYONE who wants to improve thier game. My Best friend now also owns an r7 Quad, and yes- he's out driving me again, But when I went from 250yd drives to 290yd drives I guess it's alright by me.I also noticed for the first time that I could feel the ball compress off the clubface, now I know how the Pro's feel when they hit the ball! Also the sound the club makes on impact is sweet music not annoying like some of the cheaper made drivers that don't even go that far. TaylorMade is going to be in my Bag for a lot of years to come. Put one in your hands and instantly you'll know what I mean! I'm sure glad I did, and as far as price goes you're getting what you're pating for, and over the long run it will only be pennies on the dollar per round that helped me to justify (to my wife) about spending the doe on just one club. The only thing I didn't like about the r7 by Taylormade was the weight's, because they are or can be a bit tricky to figure out for my particular goofy swing. But I finally got it dialed in and from that point on I've been having fun doing what I love. CRUSHING IT!!! C-ya on the course. Dave K.

R7 -- Excellent Control and Distance
Created: 01/19/06
I recently upgraded from the 580 to the R7. The first round of golf proved several things to me:
1. The R7 head was more narrow and visually appeared to be less forgiving, yet, I was able to hit more shots dead on the sweet spot that I did with the wider face of the 580. Shots hit dead on the sweet spot will go about 30 yards farther than shots that miss the center by one ball width. In other words, hitting the sweet spot has an immediate reward.
2. The X-Stiff shaft in the R7 was clearly superior to the 580 X-stiff; I could really feel the acceleration and flex through the hitting zone--but--it still provides a lot of control.
3. The adjustable weight feature will never be adjusted by me. I suppose it might have some value, but anyone that is a good enough ball striker to consistently hit a straight, draw or fade shot probably doesn't need to move the weights. Anyway, I don't see the value in that yet.
4. The first time I played with this driver, I immediately liked the performance improvements in terms of accuracy, feel and distance when compared to the 580 (which I also liked). The R7 definitely makes a difference and I've never regretted (or bad-mouthed) this driver since the first time I hit it.

R7 Quad HT

The taylormade quad high trajectory driver is simply an advanced and amazing club that I would recommend for the amateur player. I purchased the r7 (still wating on its arrival) days ago, and after I bought it I went to a range to demo the club that I had spent 150$ on. My club speed at 110 and a pretty consistent straight hitter found discomfort the first time i swong the club. This club made for a golfer with a slower swing and low trajectory rate has disagreed with me the few first hits i experienced at the range. Realizing high shots with no deal of distance i went to the r7 tool to try to rearrange the weights for a solid swing. The beauty of this club is that with the heavy weights at the back of the driver my drive would go normal weight and with great distance. Now loving the club and the value of the weight technology.Great club.
