Taylormade R7 CGB Max fairway woods.
Created: 12/05/09
First off this review is in 2 parts because it concerns 2 fairway woods. One is the 5 wood and the other is about a 3 wood. First off the 5 wood I purchased was from Sports Authority and I believe it to be legit, the 3 wood I got was purchased thru ebay from someone and it came from China??? The 5 wood is simply great. Super light and totally workable yet forgiving at the same time. I can choose to hit it high, low, cut or draw it pretty easily and a shot I just hit yesterday was so far out on the toe I almost missed the ball yet it carried a long, long way with the draw that I intended to put on it. I was actually shocked when I looked at the club face and saw how poorly I struck the shot and how much I actually got out of the shot.
The 3 wood was quite a different story. I got it thru ebay from someone with terrible feedback (my mistake for placing a bid any way). The club came and there were a few things not right with it. It was first off smaller then my 5 wood! It also had a different sole design and sole color. When I removed the middle weight it was not half the weight of the same exactly marked weight from the 5 wood. Well, took it to the range and from the very first hit the shaft which was a regular flex the same as the 5 wood felt like a piece of under cooked pasta. Horrible! I thought maybe it was a totally mis hit shot but all shots except for those perfectly and I mean perfectly hit felt awful. I have since reshafted it with an old Aldila HM35 shaft and it feels OK but still nothing to my liking of the 5 wood. Even with my driver swing which has been clocked at 105+ the 5 wood in regular flex keeps right up with me and I have no fear in swinging as hard as I choose and get results that are just excellant. I think the 3 wood is either a fake or an earlier variant which has been vastly improved upon! So check your seller and make sure they are legit and your clubs are not coming from China and I think you may come to love these clubs as well.
I was sceptical about moveable weights in clubs prior to trying these CGB's out but now I think it is almost rediculous to not atleast try out this technology and see what it can do for you. I have a normal and long standing fade but sometimes it will get into a bit more than I really want. I simply added a slightly heavier than stock weight to the heel side of the club and it is now for me a very neutral club which I can work to either side with good frequency. I have also moved the middle weight up and down and there is a definite trajectory change as well but ultimately decided to leave that as stock. All in all I think I will seek out a, "legit" 3 wood. A highly recommended club.

TaylorMade r7 CGB MAX 5 Wood Ladies Flex

I've only been playing golf for two years (59 years old). This 5 wood is just what I need. Very easy to hit and forgiving club. Ball launch is great--high and 15-20 yards more than my old one. Large volume club head delivers the distance more easily.

Great club

I bought this club to match my TaylorMade r7 cgb MAX driver. I was so impressed with the driver I decided to purchase the 3 wood. I increased the distance I hit my 3 wood by 25 yards and with the MWT technology I either hit the ball straight or with a slight draw. I wish I had bought this club a year ago. Scores are going down by 4 to 5 strokes depending on the course. Completely satisfied. I have since bought the matching TaylorMade r7 cgb MAX 5 wood.

This is my second Set

The Taylor Made r7 cgb Max are great fairway woods, very forgiving and easy to hit. Since I play Golf in Portugal and Florida (second home) I bought a set for each place. I am in the golf business, experimenting all the new stuff which every year comes out, but I have never experimented the same feeling and got the distance that I am now getting with these clubs, specially the 3 wood. It really feels like I have regained some accuracy and distance which I thought I had lost in the last years due to age.
Thanks Taylor Made !!!!

Taylor Made r7 cgb MAX three wood 15 degree

Great club. Feels solid and straight when I hit the club. I bought it to match the r7 cgb MAX HT driver that I already have. The previous clubs that I had were stiff flex and I just don't hit the ball that hard any more so I bought regular flex. I would buy this one again.
One caution is that you need to be careful about counterfeit clubs. Make sure that you are purchasing from a reputable dealer or you could spend a lot of money to get a piece of junk. If you get genuine TaylorMade you will probalby like it but if you buy counterfeit, TaylorMade won't provide any assistance.
