TaylorMade r7 Limited Driver Golf Club

Created: 06/17/10
I am loving this driver head so far. I purchased it to combine with an existing TalyorMade shaft from another r7 driver, regular flex. I had it put together by a local clubsmith and took it out last week for a test drive. It came from the ebay seller with the weights set up for a natural draw shot. The adjustable weight technology is really being talked about in golf magazines regarding the r7 and r9 drivers from TM. I used the club wrench to set the club straight up, meaning the 8gram weight in the center with the smaller 1gram weights on either side. On my home course, I was crushing drivers at least 20 yards farther than my old, old driver which this one replaced. It has a very solid sound and is very forgiving on off-center shots. The triangle head shape takes a bit of getting used to, but I am okay with it now and enjoying this club. Highly recommended since you can get these on Ebay at significant discounts now that the r9 is the hot item. I have heard that the r7 limited is esentially the same. Try it out and see for yourself.

Taylormade R7

Created: 02/02/10
I went from the Callaway FT-3 to the Taylormade R7. The R7 seems to have a lighter head which allows for a feel of faster clubhead speed along with a bit of actual clubhead speed. Fairly easy to shape the ball from fade to draw without moving weights. Added 10-15 yards but most importantly increased my driving accuracy by 25%. The triangular shape takes a little getting used to but once you do it's a great club.

9.5* r7 Limited, stiff flex Matrix 5.5 shaft, rh

Created: 01/02/10
Bought the club based on positive reviews of current owners from several different sources. My swing speed is just south of 100 so I was a little concerned that the 9.5 loft would cause a push to the right. I've been using lofts from 10.5* to 12* and was having a tough time in the wind, couldn't tee the ball low enough to make a difference. Like with most golf clubs though, put the ball where you're supposed to on the clubface and it will go where it's supposed to. Hit this one on the sweet spot and the drives are long with good roll, longer than the 905T, G5 and Snake Eyes 955 I've been playing. Mishits do travel to the right but no more than normal for me. The 45.5" length isn't a problem with a clubhead of 440cc and that shape configuration. It sets up well for me and it's appearance at setup has actually helped me get in the right position to take the club back on plane. I was a little concerned with the light shaft weight but the club is well balanced and the Matrix 5.5 has great feel to it. If my swingspeed was in the 105+ range I'd want a little more shaft but for me this one is a good match. So far it's treating me right and the only reason I'm not giving it an excellent rating is because of limited use.

Staying with TaylorMade

Created: 06/25/09
I understand why TaylorMade is the #1 driver in golf. Product performs as advertised. I simply like the way the club looks at setup and the ball really comes off the face of the club like a rocket. My r7 Limited is 8.5 degree with a factory stiff shaft - great combination for me. In shopping it appeared to me that TaylorMade is really serious about their product. There is a wide variety of lofts, and shaft options that provides the buyer an almost "custom fit" club selection. In 40 years of golf I have used many different brands of drivers, and I used the original r7 quad for several years, but decided the head size of the newer models would help improve my game so I went to Nike and Titelist with some degree of satisfaction, but now I am back to stay with TaylorMade.

I have never hit a better driver

Created: 06/08/09
I played my first round of golf with my new R7 limited today and the words I love it just dont do it justice. I tend to have a slight fade to a moderate slice on my bad shots. I went out cold on this round not having time to hit any range before my round. I piped my first 3 drives longer than I have ever hit my Callaway X TOUR. I cannot believe how much this driver has already done for my game. I was hitting wedges into greens that I normally was hitting 7 and 8 irons. This was with the 16 gram weight in the middle or neutral position. I only missed 2 fairways and it was due a quick move down. I will never have to buy another driver, I am done with my search.
