at age 73 and after a 6 bypass heart operation in which 40% of all stength left the body----golf did not seem too be an option for the future---somehow---taylormade must have had a senior staffer with the same problem and decided too formulate a program for the bennifit of all those who have had a similar problem----starting with the R7 and then the R9 and now the R11---at the present , the R9 supertri is my weapon of choice---for a person who enjoys the advantage of being able to adjust the club to fit the conditions---the R9 series is a must---with all the daily aches and pains of age---the R9 allows one too adjust the club too fit the problem---be it a hip---a shoulder--the wind--or just overall distress---the ability too change the loft and face angle along with the great feature of changing shafts---makes this a club for all occasions---switching from a regular flex too a senior flex---depending on the weather conditions and my body conditions----has made golf again enjoyable and fun---besides it drives the gang i play with crazy----they all ask---'well what combination are you going too use today?'---and with that the show begins----all kidding aside---this club allows a person to custom adjust and fit it to each persons individual needs---and therefore , produce the maximum results available--both in distance and accuracy---you do not need to purchase a brand new one too determine if the club is correct for you---there are plenty of good used ones on ebay---don't worry about the shaft flex---just find one the works and screw it in----HAPPY DAYS OF GOLF-----are here again----the 'old folks' brenda and larry

TaylorMade R9 Supertri Driver Golf Club
Created: 06/14/10
I 71 years old, have a 10.6 index and play golf three times a week, year round. The driver I purchased has a 9.5, regular, Motore 60 shaft. At this point I have not made any of the 24 club head adjustments that are possible with it and have kept it in the neutral position.
PROS - I have only used this driver for two rounds and found it significantly better than the TaylorMade R7 driver that I really like and have used for several years. The difference is that the hits are more solid in that the force seems to stay in the club head and does not vibrate up the shaft as compared with my R7. I did not know this was happening until I compared one against the other on the range. As a result, I believe that I am hitting the ball further and feel that my drives are straighter. This is very important to me in that with age I have lost yardage on all of my clubs and need all of the help I can get.
- When I decide to change the club head configuration I know that it can easily and quickly be accomplished.
- It truly is a superbly designed driver.
- Even though the head size is 460 cc's it is uniform in shape and is pleasing to look at when addressing the golf ball. I cannot say that for all of the club head designs I have seen.
- I purchased the driver on eBay for $275 plus nominal shipping as compared with the pro shop, warehouse price of $399.99 plus sales tax.
CONS - Do not have any. I don't expect that any will surface in the future.
I believe that this driver is the latest in technology and would recommend it to any golfer that wants to maximize his game.

This old dog has a new trick called R 9 supertri
Created: 08/10/10
I was practicing at a driving range and the owner(watching me hit balls)remarked, I'd like to see how you hit one of the NEW Drivers,,, we have several here for customers to try. He gave me a taylormade R 9 supertri stiff, and I said I doubt if I can hit anything as well as my old driver (a Yonex Titanium same loft and shaft) To my SURPRISE I was flying the ball past where my driver's drives were finishing! I know the saying of "You can't teach an old dog new tricks",,, but this old dog has learned a new one. I now own a new one and have retired my old driver of the past 13 years. Thanks to Taylormade and their staff of engineers and club developers. LEW Worthey

R9 SUPER-TRI
Created: 08/25/10
This is my third Taylormade driver and i've always thought this is a great club but if only i could lower the flight or stop losing it right so much with my previous Burner and Tour Burner models.
Since i bought the club, while waiting for it to arrive from the U.S, I have been reading lots of reviews from people gushing over the "extra 30 yards" and how "i hit every fairway" nonsense! Infact it put me off the club but made me even more curious to try it out.
Broke it in down at the range today so i can't really comment on distance until i try it on the course. I changed the settings until i found the flight and shot shape i could only dream of up until now. The extra distance is guarenteed with this shot shape but to what extent i can't be sure, 8-15 yards maybe.
My swing is improving, this club is going to help me, it looks great and inspires confidence. If you can't gain an advantage using this club then your at the end of the road!

Super SuperTri

The R9 SuperTri that I just purchased is a blast. I received it today and had to go out and hit it on the course. It was 55 degrees and breezey and even hitting a low compression ball was easy with the new Taylormade R9. I had time to check the MWT weights and change the FCT to Neutral Upright(NU) since that's what I have my 3-wood set at. It was perfect but I'll be trying some different settings yet this year and next spring. I'm looking forward to a brand new year with it next year.
