Too much club for me...unless you swing 110+ mph with ease and tend to hit drivers too high this likely won't be the club for you either. If you do decide to try one I would recommend adding a degree of loft to what you normally use and finding one with a high launch shaft. In my case, I have a Ping G5 10.5 with a ProLaunch Blue Stiff shaft, so that wouldn't be possible for me, but if you have say a 9 degree driver you hit too high, try this in a 10.5 and you might have something that's really workable. My Ping G5 still works great for me most of the year but I wanted a lower trajectory club for when the ground gets firmer. But at 9.5 Stiff this one went way too low for me. The head design promotes low trajectory so for the vast majority of players, I would recommend the Super Tri or the 460 in the Taylor Made R9 series. I am going to try a different shaft to see if it will help the launch angle but overall leave the SuperDeep to the super long and super high strikers of the golf ball. The head looks awesome, very similar to the old R5 series, which I loved, and it was fun to try, but save yourself the bucks and stick to the more conventional R9 clubheads unless you smash it like a pro with your driver.

I took this out for the first time to the range the last weekend of Jan 2011 and got to play a round afterwards. The temperature was in the lower 70s (crazy warm after the insanely cold temps we have had this winter). But, I was still hitting it as far as I hit my old R7 in August when it was over 100 degrees. I had to make some adjustments in my address. It seems like the sweet spot is closer to the hozzle and I had better contact as I scooted closer to the ball in my address. I also canted my face one click past neutral towards the draw, which seemed to correct my normal fade off the tee. I reached one of my club's par 5's in two for the first time ever. I was also a wedge out on 18 for the very first time and finished with a birdie. So, I can't wait until it warms up and I get a little more experience with the club. My initial impression is that it is easier to hit than the R7, longer and straighter. I also was able to shape some shots on a few holes, which I haven't been able to do since I was a lot younger. I recommend the club and hope to post some low scores in 2011!

This is my second Superdeep..the first was a tour 7.5 and i loved it. Then it got stolen. I then purchased a SuperTri and loved the workablility but it looks like a sherman tank. This Superdeep 8.5 is the cats meow...the 435cc head seems so much smaller at address than the Supertri but it hits like a dream. I have a splined aligned aftermarket shaft that i use with it and as mentioned if you can duplicate your swing consistantly you will love this driver like no other. The high kickpoint shaft im using hits the ball lower than the stock mid launch shafts. All in all its the best driver ive ever hit...and that is what its all about...confidence in your equipment.
