Taylor Made Burner Rescue Hybrids
Created: 08/09/07
The Taylor Made Burner Rescue Hybrid, new on the market in 2007, is Taylor Made's best product yet in this area. The 65 gram graphite shaft and the light weight grip are perfect matches for the relatively light weight club head. I have been trying out hybrids for the past two years in a effort to replace some of my aging Orlimar TriMetal fairway clubs. I even tried the expensive Bobby Jones clubs made by the maker of the TriMetals, Jesse Ortiz. I found the Boby Jones clubs too heavy for me and too unlike my TriMetals to replace any of them. I've tried most of the new hybrids and find the Burner the best fit for me. I am 66 but still use regular shafts rather than senior shafts. I still carry a single digit handicap. I found the burner hybrids very easy to swing with a solid feel. They feel light weight compared, for instance, to the Cleveland hybrids and similar relatively heavy feeling bybrids. I think this is a plus for the average player. I can, however, still shape my shots although the club does seem a good deal easier to draw than to fade. This is probably a help for the average player. Although the manufacturer tauts the larger clubhead size, the club is easy to get airborne and I find it plays and feels comperable to my very low-profile TriMetals. This extra size, when combined with the ease of getting the ball airborne from tight lies, might also be a plus for the average player. The extra size of the clubhead and low center of gravity are definitely helpful in getting the ball out of light rough - the only weakness of the old TriMetals. I also find I can choke down on the grip, even down to the shaft, and still have a good feel when playing partial shots and punch shots. They are $179.99 new but there are a few of them starting to show up on E-Bay for significantly less. There are still only a few used ones coming to E-Bay but that should change as the next few months pass and newer models come out from all manufacturers. I definitely prefer them to the Cleveland Golf, Srixon, Adams, Orlimar, and Nickent products. If you are looking for one of the best hybrids for the average player on the market as of August 2007 you will probably like the Burner hybrid. I think the 5 (25 degree) and 6 (28 degree) iron substitutes are especially helpful. They are also currently made in 19 and 22 degree models. Have fun!

ADAMS A3 HYBRID STIFF
Created: 09/05/08
I TRIED THE A3 FOR THE FIRST TIME THE OTHER DAY AND FORMERLY WAS USING TAYLOR MADE BURNER RESCUE CLUBS. THE TAYLORMADE TENDS TO HOOK THE BALL IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL, BUT THE ADAMS A3 KEEPS THE BALL STRAIGHT AND LONG WITH A 16 DEGREES LOFT. I REMOVED MY 3 AND 5 WOOD CALLAWAY FAIRWAY WOODS SINCE THE ADAMS A3 IS SO MUCH MORE EASIER AND CONSISTENT. I CAN WORK THE BALL, HIT IT HIGH OR LOW AND IS A SNAP OUT OF HEAVY ROUGH. I MIGHT LOOSE A LITTLE BIT OVER MY 3 WOOD, BUT STRAIGHTER IS BETTER THAN CROOKED HITS. THE PRICE IS ONLY $149 NEW AND IN SOME SHOPS AT $99. YOU GET MUCH MORE BETTER PERFORMANCE FOR THE BANG. I WILL BE REPLACE IN MY TAYLORMADE BURNER 3 WOOD 19 DEGREES FOR A ADAMS A3 3 HYBRID.
I'M EVEN ABLE TO UTILIZE ONE MORE WEDGE SINCE REMOVING THE 3 AND 5 WOODS.
GIVE THEM A TRY, I'M SURE YOU WILL BE PLEASED.

Great Go To Club!

I now have three of these clubs (3-4-5) and have really come to depend on them. In fact, I have taken all but one of my fairway woods out of my bag because I have gotten so much distance and coverage from these clubs.
I find I can work the ball in either direction with these clubs but, as with any club, you need a relatively good lie to pull this off. The design on the crown helps with alignment and was one of the reasons I chose this club after hitting at a local golf shop (besides, the salesman recommended this club over newer years versions)
The ball comes out of rough relatively well but because they are somewhat low profile, you need to be careful to not slide beneath a ball on a fluffy lie.
I would definitely recommend these clubs for mid handicappers that are looking for a reliable, easy to hit alternative to their long irons.

Taylormade Burner Rescue 3.

The taylormade burner rescue fairway wood 3 is a great club to replace those hard to hit long irons. It will take it out of the rough or right off the fairway. I liked it so much I bought this one for my wife so she quits borrowing mine. Culater09

Awesome! Taylormade Burner 19 degree hybrid

This hybrid is very easy to hit out of almost any fairway or rough lie. These are much easier to hit than a regular 3 iron. This club can also be a good option for a second shot on a par 5 if you have trouble hitting your 3 wood from the turf. These clubs seem to have a nice sweetspot. The new burner series from Taylormade has made a believer out of me.
