TaylorMade Burner 460 Driver--The TDD Legend Continues!

Created: 08/06/07
The TaylorMade Burner 460 is beautiful in black with a unique design on the crown that doubles as aiming device. It has a low-profile appearance with new technology aerodynamics. It feels incredibly light, but hits very solidly. The 460 Burner feels like you can generate tremendous clubhead speed, even if you aren't actually doing it. It makes a nice, explosive sound on center impact. The Burner 460 has a very generous sweet spot, so off-center impact results in a relatively low, straight and long drive. Remember, no re-play cameras on "our" courses. How the golf ball got there and what the ball flight looked like are strictly your business. My drives are high, straight and really long--often over 290 yards! Incidently, the slightly closed-face is no obstacle to working the ball--fade or draw. As a side note, the paint on the sole lasts longer than on earlier Taylor-Made Drivers. There is also a Burner 460 Draw Driver for golfers fighting a slice.

The Fujikura Re-AX 50 gram shaft is so light, you'll have to check to ensure club head is still attached. Recently, I had my Burner re-shafted with a Fujikura Fit-On E260 Flex-S shaft. Although it weighs 66-68 grams, the Fujikura E260 is slimmer and it has a mid/high kick point. Now, my drives fly slightly lower than with the Re-AX shaft. Because most factory-installed shafts and grips are cheap, I HIGHLY recommend you get fitted for a custom shaft and grip to maximum your results. After all, the club shaft is "the ENGINE that drives the car." By the way, the factory grip is thin to the point of near non-existence. I like the Golf-Pride DD2 and I love the GripMaster one-piece, Pro perforated leather grip. GripMaster is, by far, the tackiest grip I have used and it feels great. The headcover is huge and difficult to remove/reapply. Many after-market head covers will NOT easily fit it.

I don't miss any of my previous drivers. TaylorMade simply seems to "own the corner" on driver technology these days and the Burner 460 is further evidence of TaylorMade Driver Dominance (TDD). Among drivers today, it may not get any better than this. It's still a great buy and I am not sure any of the newer Taylor-Made Drivers are any longer, more forgiving or more accurate. I hit my 460 Burner as far as I hit my Ping G10 driver.

TaylorMade Burner 460 TP Driver

Created: 04/05/08
I have been a Ping man for the last several years using the G5 equipment and I kept hearing about the number of PGA Tour players that used the TaylorMade clubs, so I went to my local golf shop and checked out a TaylorMade Burner Driver. The regular Burner has a 47 inch long shaft in 55g and the face of the driver is 2* closed to help prevent slicing. I normally hit the ball straight to a slight draw so the closed face did not help and when I asked about that the golf shop referred me to the TP model.
The TaylorMade Burner 460 TP version is basically the same except the face is 1* open and the preferred shaft is a 65g shaft with a stiff tip helping with the off center hits. The weighting is also different to give the Burner TP a lower more boring ball flight. The club is a great club abd the technology is truely there, but the only draw back to the TP version is to the person that hits a slight fade or has problems with hitting a slice because with the open face those problems are magnified.
The club is extremely solid with a great pop when you hit the ball and the distance is something. For me this club is approximately 8 to 10 yards longer with a lower ball flight which really gives more distance in windy conditions. I would highly recommend this club, just decide which version is best for your game.

TAYLOR MADE BURNER

Created: 03/17/09
The TaylorMade Burner is a very forgiving high hitting club. The Neutral is much better than the Draw for average to better players. It is surprisingly light for the 46" length. The shaft is 50 grams-lighter than the Average- and definitely keeps the swing weight down. I find that my swing speed is faster when I swing easier with this longer shafted, low flex club. Nice natural draw from the Neutral since the face is very slightly draw biased. Head Feedback is excellent, and even toe and heel hits go further than average. Now is the time to get a great deal on the Taylormade Burner, since the new 2009 Burners are out and TaylorMade has a reputation of greatly depreciating in value shortly after the club is purchased. I picked up a New TaylorMade Burner on EBAY
for over $100....great deal....hits as well as my 2009 TaylorMade Burner.

TaylorMade Burner Driver

Created: 08/18/10
I was very surprised by this club. I haved played the R7 and Titleist D2 both stiff shafts. The R7 is long but a little eratic, tried the R9(forget it)and the D2 is straight but not long. I took a chance with the Burner and love it. It hit high but straight with a deep carry. The ball comes off the face with a real solid feel. It has a slightly closed face so it can go a little more left but, not bad and when you hit it a little open it's a marginal fade maybe 7-10 yards max. So, this driver is workable, The club has a 46 inch staff but, it does not feel like a long club and it is easy the get square. This driver is a great all around club for different shots. More people should be hitting this club, TaylorMade has a very good stick in this one and should build on it. I carry a 6 Hncp but, have been struggling on the tee box, that's over now!

Da Bomb!!!

Excellent!!!!!!Love the Driver! Never had one! used a demo before! Always wanted to get one! 50grams suits my swing and small wrists. generates great clubhead speed without even trying. decided to buy it because losing distance with previous driver; great control but heavier shaft just didn't suit me. Furthermore, i live in New Zealand. the us dollar stronger and therefore i have saved over $200 on this purchase so purchasing golf equipment for me from states and on ebay is huge saver. more than makes up for time takes to get here on this side of the world. Have used the new driver only one round gained on average extra 40 yrds(please don't think this is exaggeration; im sure others testify to such a claim). would recommend burner to anyone who has limited shoulder turn clubhead speed 80-95 mph swing speed will easily gain extra 10-15 mph if not more. even though 2007 model just as great as 2009 model only difference i can see is that i think 2009 model slightly lighter by a gram but depends on the individual who buys it. that's my review hope it helps!!
