Super Mario Galaxy 2, the sequel to the smash-hit galaxy-hopping original game, includes the amazing gravity-defying, physics-based exploration from the first game, but is loaded with entirely new galaxies and features to challenge and delight players.

On some stages, Mario can pair up with his dinosaur buddy Yoshi and use his tongue to grab items and spit them back at enemies. Players can also have fun with new items such as a drill that lets our hero tunnel through solid rock.

Game Special Features
  • Mario collects stars as he travels from galaxy to galaxy. Every level is new, but the game retains the charm, sense of wonder and beauty in line with Mario̵7;s history. Mario works his way through the various levels, sometimes upside-down, sometimes floating from place to place.
  • On some stages, Mario can find an egg, smash it open and hop onto the back of Yoshi. Yoshi can use his tongue to grab items and shoot them back at enemies, or to snag attach points and swing across chasms.
  • Yoshi has an interesting diet. When he eats a Dash Pepper, he gets so hot and frenzied he can run up steep inclines and vertical walls. When he eats a Blimp Fruit, he inflates like a balloon and floats to new heights.
  • New power-ups include a drill that Mario uses to tunnel through the planet̵7;s surface all the way to the other side of a planet.
  • Skilled players will want to collect new Comet Metals, which will unlock harder levels with even more challenges.

    awesome game. great price

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 (スーパーマリオギャラクシー2 Sūpā Mario Gyarakushī Tsū?) is a platforming video game developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo for the Wii. It was first announced at E3 2009 and is the sequel to Super Mario Galaxy. It was released in North America on May 23, 2010, in Japan on May 27, 2010, in Europe on June 11, 2010, and in Australia on June 30, 2010. It is the fourth original 3D platformer in the Super Mario series, after Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy.

The story follows Mario as he pursues the Koopa King, Bowser into outer space, where he has imprisoned Princess Peach and taken control of the universe using Power Stars. Mario must travel across various galaxies to recover the Power Stars in order to travel to the center of the universe and rescue the princess. The game was originally planned as a simple iteration of Super Mario Galaxy with few modifications and a projected development time of a year; this version would have been called More Super Mario Galaxy. It was later decided that the game was to be developed as a fleshed-out sequel when the development staff continued to build upon the game with dozens of new ideas, and so development time expanded to two and a half years. Among the additions are dynamic environments, new power-ups, and, most notably, the ability to ride Yoshi.

    Best game in this generation!

I think the one thing you should take away from this review: Super Mario Galaxy 2 wholly exceeded my expectations. Leading up to the game’s release I hadn’t expected much more than simply “more of the same.” I loved the original Super Mario Galaxy, but the company would have to do something pretty special to really “wow” me.

Consider me “wowed.” Again. Yes, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is more of what made the original so amazingly good: brilliant gravity platfoming. Incredibly tight and responsive controls. Fantastic musical score. But it’s not a “me too” experience -- a significant majority of this sequel is brand new. New level challenges, new gameplay mechanics, new (and incredible) orchestral pieces. All done up in a package that streamlines the classic Mario experience: a straightforward presentation, a much more intelligent camera system, and a rewarding progression that opens up some seriously devious and fulfilling level challenges.

Mario has always been a universally appealing game design and Nintendo has done an incredible job to make sure its key franchise is just as accessible to gamers of all walks of life. Most of all, Super Mario Galaxy 2 perfectly captures that classic videogame charm, the reason why most of us got into gaming from the start.

    10 Presentation
Big and bold, with a progression that's been tightened up and streamlined. This is Mario at its core, and one of the best, if not the best, Nintendo has to offer.
    10 Graphics
A testament to the amazing game engine from 2007: it still looks fantastic and beautiful.
    10 Sound
A much stronger saturation of "big band" tunes here, and that's just awesome.
    10 Gameplay
This is the absolute pinnacle of Mario gameplay: everything that makes a Mario game so incredibly fun is represented here. Both in 2D and 3D.
    10 Lasting Appeal
If you just want to get to Bowser you'll be done in a few hours. But if you want to strut your gaming skills you'll be playing this one for weeks.

    10 OVERALL Masterful

Buy it if you couldn't have enough of the first Mario Galaxy. <3

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

I give Mario Galaxy 2 a 4/5 only because the story isn't as creative as the first Mario Galaxy was. In Mario Galaxy, Rosalina would read a story to Mario every 2 completed missions (Getting a Star). Her story was beautiful, and very calming. Sad in a lot of parts, because her mother left to become a Galaxy (Or a giant star I think). So Rosalina waited for her, but noticed she wasn't coming back after she ventured out into space with a star she befriended she named Luma (CHUBBY STARS ARE SO CUTE...! <3). In Galaxy 2, uhhh... well there isn't much of a storyline. As usual, Bowser steals peach, she helplessly does nothing to get away AGAIN, Mario takes another journey into space just to rescue her (Every time me and my family play a Mario game we all facepalm, sigh and/or go "AWWWW CMOONNNN" when peach gets stolen). Mario Galaxy 2 even started with the Starbit Festival the first Mario Galaxy started with. The only difference was that In MG2, the action started almost right away. Why this doesn't get just 3 stars for not being as original as the first one, is because I'll always love how Mario Galaxy is a bright and colorful game. There isn't a dull spot anywhere. It gets confusing occasionally having to run around a planet upside down. I bought this because I nearly cried when Mario Galaxy had no more for me to do (Er Go, I completed the whole game). I needed more of this game. I always have loved Yoshi and his eating habits, and I'm glad they decided to add him in MG2. If I felt better about the storyline, 5 stars, no questions asked. But I somehow felt as though I was playing Mario Galaxy 1 in the beginning.... Still, I appreciate how much Nintendo does for their customers. 4/5. <3

    Mario Galaxy 2

My decision to purchase Mario Galaxy 2 was really due to my obsession with the first Mario Galaxy game. In my experience, unlike most movies, the sequels to video games are almost always better than the original. For me the jury is still out on Mario Galaxy 2. While it does have most of the elements of the original game, many of the levels seem to be a weird hybrid of Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Brothers with Yoshi thrown into the mix.
It is similar enough to the original that I still find the game fun to play and I haven't gotten to any levels that are really challenging enough that I can't finish them. I assume that there are more difficult levels to come, and if that is the case, Mario Galaxy 2 will for me become more and more interesting to play.
Overall, I think that the developers of the game have captured and expanded upon the basic elements of Mario Galaxy and thrown in a few twists to make the game fun to play.

    BEST WII GAME EVER!

This game is a big improvement of its first game, SMG, and this game has cool additions like Yoshi, new power-ups, longer adventure, improved 2 player mode, and MORE! This is a 100% recommendation to everyone that owns a Wii.
