Best game in this generation!

I think the one thing you should take away from this review: Super Mario Galaxy 2 wholly exceeded my expectations. Leading up to the game’s release I hadn’t expected much more than simply “more of the same.” I loved the original Super Mario Galaxy, but the company would have to do something pretty special to really “wow” me.
Consider me “wowed.” Again. Yes, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is more of what made the original so amazingly good: brilliant gravity platfoming. Incredibly tight and responsive controls. Fantastic musical score. But it’s not a “me too” experience -- a significant majority of this sequel is brand new. New level challenges, new gameplay mechanics, new (and incredible) orchestral pieces. All done up in a package that streamlines the classic Mario experience: a straightforward presentation, a much more intelligent camera system, and a rewarding progression that opens up some seriously devious and fulfilling level challenges.
Mario has always been a universally appealing game design and Nintendo has done an incredible job to make sure its key franchise is just as accessible to gamers of all walks of life. Most of all, Super Mario Galaxy 2 perfectly captures that classic videogame charm, the reason why most of us got into gaming from the start.
10 Presentation
Big and bold, with a progression that's been tightened up and streamlined. This is Mario at its core, and one of the best, if not the best, Nintendo has to offer.
10 Graphics
A testament to the amazing game engine from 2007: it still looks fantastic and beautiful.
10 Sound
A much stronger saturation of "big band" tunes here, and that's just awesome.
10 Gameplay
This is the absolute pinnacle of Mario gameplay: everything that makes a Mario game so incredibly fun is represented here. Both in 2D and 3D.
10 Lasting Appeal
If you just want to get to Bowser you'll be done in a few hours. But if you want to strut your gaming skills you'll be playing this one for weeks.
10 OVERALL Masterful

Mario Galaxy 2

My decision to purchase Mario Galaxy 2 was really due to my obsession with the first Mario Galaxy game. In my experience, unlike most movies, the sequels to video games are almost always better than the original. For me the jury is still out on Mario Galaxy 2. While it does have most of the elements of the original game, many of the levels seem to be a weird hybrid of Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Brothers with Yoshi thrown into the mix.
It is similar enough to the original that I still find the game fun to play and I haven't gotten to any levels that are really challenging enough that I can't finish them. I assume that there are more difficult levels to come, and if that is the case, Mario Galaxy 2 will for me become more and more interesting to play.
Overall, I think that the developers of the game have captured and expanded upon the basic elements of Mario Galaxy and thrown in a few twists to make the game fun to play.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii, 2010)

Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii, 2010) is a Mario lover's dream come true! He becomes a giant statue like the Sphinx in Egypt with a green 1 up mushroom on his nose! He fights giant robots, who try their very best to squash our hero! Mario rides Yoshi super fast hanging on for dear life! He visits bizarre worlds, totally full of fantastic flowers! Mario has to face off with his evil doppelganger: "SHADOW MARIO", who first appeared in Mario Sunshine! He has to contend with giant Goombas like, a scene from "Land Of The Giants"!
Mario runs into a giant frozen Bowser, what a stunning visual concept! Mario does things with Yoshi no one would have ever dreamed of! Evil machines try to make Mario wish he was strolling around the castle with Princess Peach! Mario gets some new suits to wear, that bee suit in Super Mario Galaxy was a hoot! Now wait till you see the sugar glider suit in Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii, 2010)!
From the crazy story line, to the stunning graphics, not to mention the brilliant orchestral sound track, Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii, 2010) fills the bill for a true Mario game! There are few "must have" titles, this is certainly in the top 10 of all time!

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Super Mario Galaxy 2, the sequel to the smash-hit galaxy-hopping original game, includes the amazing gravity-defying, physics-based exploration from the first game, but is loaded with entirely new galaxies and features to challenge and delight players.
On some stages, Mario can pair up with his dinosaur buddy Yoshi and use his tongue to grab items and spit them back at enemies. Players can also have fun with new items such as a drill that lets our hero tunnel through solid rock.
