Like her secular sisters, Orrico has a big voice that fits hand-in-glove with the dance-pop template of this outing. The big difference is that this talented 16-year-old co-wrote a good percentage of these songs, which deal with weightier matters like the idea of life after death (the acoustic guitar-mottled "Hesitation") and spiritual beliefs (the soaring "Strong Enough"). Even Orrico's breakout single "Stuck" does an impressive job of intelligently addressing heartbreak in a way that's struck a chord with teenage girls everywhere. Reminiscent of Janet Jackson's finer moments, STACIE ORRICO is packed with a fusion of hard-hitting beats and well-written lyrics that are harbingers of greater things to come for this sharp pop idol.

I'm Stuck On This CD!

A pleasant surprise; almost all tracks are great!

Bounce Back gets a poor remix

After her last album, "Genuine", was an OK release, I wasn't going to buy this one. It was only after I heard "Stuck" on the radio and Internet that I decided I had to get this! I wasn't disappointed!

STUCK
Stacie first secular pop song. This song has nothing to do with religion, rather about a break-up between a couple & how even though it's hard, you know you've made the right decision. This is a great, upbeat song to dance to & deserved the radio attention it got.

MORE TO LIFE
Her second secular single from the album. It's more laid-back and not as upbeat as "Stuck" was, but that doesn't prevent it from being a great song. I didn't like this song at first, but it grew on me, & now it's one of my favorites.

BOUNCE BACK
I bought this song's single back in 2002. The original version sounds more acoustic & guitar-driven than this pop remix. The song is great, but I don't really like this version as much.

I PROMISE
The first ballad on the album. I was pleasantly surprised with the ballads on the album. In "Genuine" the ballads got boring and draggy. I love the not-too-slow music & the wonderful melody of it. I do wish it was a single in the US, not just the UK.

SECURITY
This is another song that was made different from its original version. The rap breakdown is edited out of it. I personally like the song both ways. The rap part is great, but when it's taken out, you can hear the bvg's better. If you'd like to have the original version, there's a sampler CD called "Turn It Up!" that was released in 2002 to LifeWay Stores. Though it's no longer sold in stores, you could probably find the CD here on eBay.

INSTEAD
I love the overall feel of this song. It has a great beat & awesome message! This song rocks!

HESITATION
I wouldn't classify it as a pop song, but more of an upbeat acoustic tune. That makes it different from the rest of the songs! Love it!

STRONG ENOUGH
Another impressive ballad from the pen of Orrico herself. The lyrics have a great message and the building effect of the music combines to makes a powerful song!

I COULD BE THE ONE
This was a favorite since the first time I listened to the CD. It's a fun, upbeat pop tune with a spiritual message. This is another single that was only released in the UK.

MAYBE
This song had to grow on me. It still isn't a highlight of the album, but is still a pretty good song with a positive meaning. It's similar to "Instead."

TIGHT
Stacie actually pulled off a hip-hop number. I love hip-hop, but I never thought Orrico would stray from her pop style. Even though it's a mere 2 and a half minutes, it's still a fabulous party song.

THAT'S WHAT LOVE'S ABOUT
A great ballad to end the album. The song starts off with relaxing sounds of nature, then a piano comes on, and then Stacie's vocals start soaring. I was quite impressed.

How much would I spend on the album?
Stuck $1.50
More $1.25
Bounce $.50
Promise $1.50
Security $1
Instead $1.50
Hesitation $1.50
Strong $1.25
I Could $1.50
Maybe $1.00
Tight $1.50
That's $1.50
TOTAL: $15.50
I spent $13.99 on this CD!

Stacie Orrico - Orrico, Stacie (CD 2003)

Didn't like the cd. I bouht it for my seven year old but it was too grown up. Songs didn't sound as religious as the first cd.
