Movie synopsis
THE SPY WHO LOVED ME, the 10th film in the James Bond series, ventures not only into the depths of the ocean but into the deep topic of betrayal and morality as well, placing it among the boldest of the 007 films. James Bond (Roger Moore) is coupled with Russian agent Anya "Triple-X" Amasova (Barbara Bach) to recover stolen Soviet submarines from evil oceanographer Carl Stromberg (Curt Jurgens) and his gigantic lackey, Jaws (Richard Kiel). When Triple-X learns that Bond killed her husband on a mission in the Alps, she must overcome her selfish notions of revenge and work with 007 for the good of the world. In addition to the Bond staple of girls and gadgetry, the film features beautifully shot footage of the Austrian Alps, Venice, and the Egyptian pyramids. Furthermore, director Lewis Gilbert uses the film to push the cinematic envelope with stunning underwater action sequences, that leave the viewer gasping for air and a vodka martini--shaken, not stirred.

Editorial reviews

"...Enough to give shop-worn old 007 a shot in the arm....[The theme song ranks] as one of the most delightful surprises the series has had to offer..."

Bond at his best.

Thoroughly enjoyable movie on all accounts. A real Bond epic. I bought it to see the chase scene with the Lotus Esprit. The scene was fabulous and I now want one of those cars. Roger Moore was as debonnaire as ever and Barbara Bach was simply stunning throughout. This film is a great escape to a time and place we would all love to be again.

Roger Moore's best bond movie.

This is by far Moore's best movie as playing James Bond. Which I guess isnt really saying much since all of his movies as bond are pretty lame. But still it has a great villian in Jaws, a great bond car, great shot locations and the theme song by Carly Simon "Nobody Does It Better" is one of the best in the entire franchise. If you want to see the best that Roger Moore as to offer as James Bond this is the one to watch.

The Spy Who Loved Me

Not one of my favorite Bond films, but it does have it's moments. Roger Moore was brilliant like always, but it was kind of lacking. Really one of the first Bond films to get away from the Ian Fleming novels (despite using a Fleming title). In the 24 films, I don't think they really ever made a bad one. This one just doesn't shine as brightly as some of the others in my opinion. I purchased this in an attempt to collect every Bond film.

REVIEW: THE SPY WHO LOVED ME

THIS IS A GREAT JAMES BOND DVD. ALONG WITH THE FEATURE FILM, THE DVD IS LOADED WITH HOURS OF EXTRA BONUS MATERIAL, BEHIND THE SCENES STORIES SPOKEN BY CAST AND CREW MEMBERS AND THE ORIGINAL MOVIE TRAILER. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PURCHASE OF "THE SPY WHO LOVED ME".

The Spy Who Loved Me.

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Quick!!! Who starred in more James Bond movies than anyone else? Was it Sean Connery? No. Peirce Brosnan? No, and we might as well stop here because Timothy Dalton starred in 2, Daniel Craig to date has starred in 2, George Lazenby starred in one, and Sir Sean starred in six, if you count Never Say Never Again, the non-canonical remake of Thunderball. That makes Roger Moore the all time winner. My personal favorite of the seven he made was For Your Eyes Only, but The Spy Who Loved Me has its moments, particularly when Sir Roger is given that ultra sexy wink by Caroline Munro. This was the movie that introduced Jaws to the pantheon of Bond villains. Indeed Richard Keils Jaws is right up there with Odd Job as one of the best. Otherwise, it has its good moments, and its dull ones. Oh yes, this is the one were General Gogol starts to soften up a bit. Finally there is Bernard Lee as M, Desmond Llewlyn as Q and Lois Maxwell as Miss Moneypenny. This movie is a must for all Roger Moore James Bond fans. So, buy, watch and enjoy. It is after all James Bond.
Kind regards to all,
