Spiderman is back for his 2nd ride, leaving off from the last film, Harry is eager to get revenge on Spider-Man, Mary Jane is engaged, and Peter Parker would just like to settle down and have a normal life, and the saying "withgreat power, comes great responsibility" plays the key role in the movies story.
And just to think that Jake Gyllenhal was about to play spiderman, that would ruin the franchise, because the chemistry between Tobey and Kristen is just so good and they act their characters great together.
The sequal is filled with Phenominal Special effects, the introduction of a new character Doc Ock, more choices, and Spiderman is beginning to realize the consequences of the choices he is making. The acting, fair, you should expect the same of what you got out of the first movie, but as for Visuals and Story, Spiderman 2 really stands out with a unique story and ending, and non stop web-slinging action. There may only be only 1 thing i am quite skeptical about, and that would be the feel and presentation. From the first spiderman, every place, every scene has a relativity to one of the charaters. The houses, had that comic "surreal" feel which litteraly put you in the book, but dont get me wrong, this movie does that aswell, but i just feel it could have been better.
After watching some dissapointments this summer I am pleased to see an enjoyable movie and have a positive word about it.
Does it beat the original, well thats for you to decide, with there being more Special effects and action for me, Spider-Man 2 is Number #1 in my books.
Review is from someone who had read the Spiderman comics and who has watched the cartoons in the past. When compared to the first Spiderman movie, the action scenes are much, much better; however, the storyline of the original is just a little bit better. Therefore, Spiderman 2 is much better overall than the first.
Upsides:
This movie probably has the best fight/action sequences of any sci-fi movie that you'll ever see, even beating or seriously rivaling Blade 1; you be the judge! His very, very tough life, juggling romance, making ends meet, and crime fighting (where he works probono & it constantly makes him late for all important engagements) will undoubtedly make you pity the mild-mannered web slinger. These combined pitfalls are what has made Spiderman a fan favorite over the years and this movie has them, even more so than the original. Not only that, this movie "dusts off" an old foe that Spiderman can't physically stop, but he has to mentally/diplomatically outwit the very intelligent Doc Oct. Spiderman has limited powers and basically no resources and so things don't come easy for him at all and to me that's what makes Spiderman a cut above Superman(is almost invincible and has a good, steady income/resources) or Batman(has no powers, but is rich and has unlimited resoures) Hence, Superman and Batman are more for rich people, while Spiderman is more for ordinary everyday Americans. Spiderman/Peter Parker is real and not surreal like alot of superheroes; check it out; you can relate to him! Bring on Spiderman 3!
Now, the only Drawback in a otherwise super movie-
The part of the movie that doesn't add up is when Spiderman gives up being a superhero. In the Movie: When Spiderman gives up crime fighting, he automatically loses his superabilities - evident is when he has to put on his glasses to be able to see straight. There's no way that just because you decide not to put on a costume, you automatically lose your powers! That's what happened to Spiderman; just because he decided he wanted to live a regular life, poof- his powers were gone! He gained his powers from a radioactive spider, which in turn gave him radioactive blood and that can't be changed by thinking, "Today, I don't want to be Spiderman anymore!" He was supposed to keep his powers, even though he decided to quit and not use them. Maybe over time, he was supposed to get rusty, but practice and training was supposed to restore his abilities again! Only a blood transfusion or blood disorder could cause him to totally lose his powers like he did and even then it would be a little bit harder to regain them(if he could even regain them at all)!
I loved the first Spider-Man movie, but this one was great! More action, new villains, hot romance, what more could you want in a movie? Peter Parker A.K.A Spider-Man is played by Tobey Maguire and Mary Jane Watson is played by Kirsten Dunst. In this movie, being two people is just too much for Peter and he has to decide what is really important in his life. While this is going on Dr. Otto Octavius is turned evil by basically a project gone wrong. Suddenly the world needs Spider-Man more than ever. Peter Parker makes choices in this movie that will affect Spider-Man forever. Plus the music in this movie is wonderful! It makes the action/special effects perfect. A must see movie!
Three years later after the extremely successful release of Spiderman, Raimi is ready to release Spiderman 2! Picking up where we left off, things are changing, but not for the better. Peter Parker,(Mcguire), feels like he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Amist trying to keep the world safe with Spiderman, he's have relationship problems with both Harry,(James Franco) and Mary Jane(Kirsten Dunst). This time we have four more legs to add to the mix with the villian Doc Ock,(Alfred Molinga). This sequel to Spiderman brings out the emotion, the action, the comdey and suspence of the life of Peter Parker.
It is rare that the second of a franchise is as good as the original, but this may very well be better. This story line further develops the characters introduced in the first and take the action to an entirely new level. The special effects of Dr. Octopus and the fight scenes are incredible. We are introduced to new possible story lines ot come and more devilish characters. If each of the movies to come is as good as this one, then Spider-man will reign supreme in the Super-hero world.
Don't miss this one, every second is money well spent.
