Movie synopsis
In a retelling of the comic book saga that has appealed to generations, "Spider-Man: 1, 2, 3" offers an adventure story and plenty of action. This three-disc set includes all three of the movies directed by Sam Rami. "Spider-Man: 1, 2, 3" begins with the origin of Spider-Man when young Peter Parker was bitten by a spider on a school trip. The movies unfold to introduce such villains as the Sandman, Venom, Doctor Octopus, and the Green Goblin. Plus, "Spider-Man: 1, 2, 3" includes an all-star cast, such as Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Willem Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church, and Bryce Dallas Howard. The three-disc set that includes the full, uncut feature action films, a selection of deleted scenes, featurettes, and documentaries. "Spider-Man: 1, 2, 3" takes the stories of the comic books and brings them to life on the screen through larger-than-life villains and high flying acrobatics. However, "Spider-Man" is also a coming of age story., Spiderman fans should be in for a treat with this pack containing the first, second, and third chapters in the comic book saga.SPIDERMAN: Based on the classic Marvel Comics series, Sam Raimi's SPIDER-MAN deftly details the origin of the web-slinging superhero. When awkward New York City teenager Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) attends a class field trip to a laboratory, he gets bitten by a genetically altered spider while taking photos of his longtime crush, the lovely Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst). Soon he discovers this bite has given him remarkable powers--heightened strength, dexterity, and awareness, along with the ability to cling to walls and shoot webs from his wrists. Hoping to win Mary Jane's heart using his new talents, Peter becomes distracted from home life with his doting Aunt May (Rosemary Harris) and Uncle Ben (Cliff Robertson), ultimately leading to tragedy--and his new role as the crime-fighting Spider-Man. Meanwhile Harry Osborn (Willem Dafoe), the industrialist father of Peter's friend Norman (James Franco), undergoes a transformation of his own, bringing about the creation of Spider-Man's arch-nemesis: The Green Goblin. In order to save his loved ones--and all of New York City--from the devastating force of the deluded Goblin, Spider-Man must take on the villain in a series of stunning battles.SPIDERMAN 2: Sam Raimi's follow-up to SPIDER-MAN finds Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) struggling to balance his everyday life with his alter ego as the web-slinging superhero. Still carrying the burden of keeping his crime-fighting identity from those closest to him--including his longtime love Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst), his best friend Harry Osborn (James Franco), and his doting Aunt May (Rosemary Harris)--Parker must also face off against a dangerous new menace, Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), a scientist driven mad by experiments involving powerful mechanical arms. When the deranged Octavius (AKA Doc Ock) forms an alliance with the vengeful Osborn, who blames Spider-Man for the death of his father, the wall-crawling hero is in for his biggest battle yet.SPIDERMAN 3: The Marvel comics hero returns for more high-flying fun in this third installment in the series. Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) is up to his usual Spidey tricks, attending university classes as an awkward geek, then quickly slipping into his red-and-blue suit to save New York City from various villains. And there are villains aplenty. Thomas Hayden Church blows in as the Sandman, an escaped convict whose molecular structure is destroyed in a particle accelerator. The freak accident gives him the ability to form and reform from piles of dust. While the Sandman sifts through the city streets robbing banks, Spidey must also contend with his onetime friend, Harry (James Franco), who has taken up where his father, the Green Goblin, left off. Harry chases Spider-Man down on his goblin glider, hurling pumpkin bombs. But Spider-Man's biggest battle is perhaps within himself, when he is taken over by meteorite ooze--a substance that gives him great power, but also turns him into a vengeful, selfish jerk. Throw into the mix Peter's new competition at the Daily Bugle--the ambitious, sneaky Eddie Brock (Topher Grace)--and Peter's relationship troubles with Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst), and SPIDER-MAN 3 weaves a tangled web indeed.

FINALLY-BOX SET

Review For: Spider-Man 1, 2, 3 (DVD, 2007, 3-Disc Set)

MAKES A GREAT X-MAS PRESENT!

IT COULDN'T BE BETTER! BOX SET!

Spider-Man:(2002): Peter Parker (Maguire) was a shy, quite nerdy teenager...until he was bitten by a genetically altered spider. Now with the heightened senses and incredible strengths and abilities of a spider, Parker has become the amazing Spider-Man. Despite facing close competition, the long awaited Spider-Man became one of 2002's biggest hits!

Spider-Man 2:(2004): Two years have passed, and the mild-mannered Peter Parker faces new challenges as he struggles with 'the gift and the curse', desperately trying to balance his dual identities as the web-slinging superhero Spider-Man and his life as a college student.

Tormented by his secrets and facing a deadly new threat in multi-tentacled Doctor Octopus (Molina), Peter finds that his relationships with all those he holds dear are in danger of unraveling. His life-long yearning for M.J. (Kirsten Dunst) becomes even stronger as he fights the impulse to reveal his secret life and declare his love. His friendship with Harry Osborn (James Franco) is complicated by the young Osborn's bitterness over his father's death and his growing vendetta against Spider-Man. Even Peter's beloved Aunt May (Rosemary Harris), who has fallen on hard times after the death of Uncle Ben, begins to have doubts about her nephew...

Spider-Man 3:(2007): Peter Parker has finally managed to strike a balance between his devotion to M.J. and his duties as a superhero. But there is a storm brewing on the horizon. When his suit suddenly changes, turning jet-black and enhancing his powers, it transforms Peter as well, bringing out the dark, vengeful side of his personality that he is struggling to control.

Under the influence of the suit, Peter becomes over confident and starts to neglect the people who care about him most. Forced to choose between the seductive power of the new suit and the compassionate hero he used to be, Peter must overcome his personal demons as two of the most feared villains yet, Sandman and Venom, gather unparalleled power and a thirst for retribution to threaten Peter and everyone he loves.

OVERALL THE FIRST ONE IS THE BEST OF THE 3, BUT THE 3RD ONE IS BETTER THAN THE 2ND.

THIS IS A MUST BUY IF YOU DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE SEIES!

OVERALL 9.5/10

Why so good?

The entire Spiderman trilogy is so good (particularly the first two) not because of its fantastic FX, made even more marvelous ;-) in HD, not because of great acting that, with intuitive genius, includes over-the-top performances by limited, key actors (editor, villains), combined with over-the-top powers and toys of the villains to link-in the comic-book (alright, graphic novelette) genre’s mood, while keeping the performances of Parker and his personal circle on an emotional, earthly level, but the three movies are sooo good because the story is written so well, with the priority on character, character, character, and the love story, as stated in the first movie’s opening monologue, and held true throughout.

Peter Parker’s (Toby Maguire) trials with his family, friend, Harry (James Franco) and love-interest, MJ (Kirsten Dunst), are such that the audience is so drawn into the interactions and outcomes, including the strong, inner struggle Parker has with his super-hero alter-ego, that the FX, stunts, toys, and even the conflict with the villains (who are also excellently flushed out and played, with dual, warmly human and wholly evil sides) is a secondary aspect that provides, more than anything else, pace and excitement to accent the real story that moves with the slower pace a plot moved by character demands. This is what good writing, the most important component of any story, in any media, is all about, and with all three Spiderman movies, the good writing prevails, opposite to so many or almost all movies of the genre which make the FX and the combat of villain and hero the centerpiece and wraps a plot, if a story, around that, resulting in another Hollywood failure added to the heap of such two-star-and-less failures.

Great casting also contributes to the effectiveness of character development and the story. The more common, physical attributes of the two leads helps keep their lives down to earth, contributing to an aurora of believability that the viewer can buy into, which would have been greatly diminished if the producers would have filled the role of Parker with a Twilight-James-Dean incarnation (like James Franco, who plays Harry, Parker’s friend) and MJ with a compatibly stunning beauty. And the villains’ characters are excellently brought to life by Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, and Thomas Haden Church.

The three movies of the first-generation Spiderman are all anyone could hope for, except to hope that the new generation will be produced with care that the same values making the first generation a stand-out will be in the fore of the minds of the writers, producers, and director.

SPIDERMAN BLU RAY TRILOGY

A big fan of marvel all my life and Spiderman is one of my all time favorite superheroes. The movies picked great actors up til the last one with as skinny venom which was dissapointing, but with that said the action is amazing and the high definition on blu ray is spectacular. Sensational sound which just made the fighting scenes soooo much better. This was a Blu Ray I was salivating to buy and the price was right. This is well worth the 70 dollars the stores want for it and any one should love to have this in there collection.

Spiderman triology

Review For: Spider-Man 1, 2, 3 (DVD, 2007, 3-Disc Set)

All four of my grandsons love spiderman. . . So, the spiderman triology was a perfect addition to Grandpa's DVD Library. Entitled, 'Keep'em on the couch and nothing gets broken time'. . . They're comin over this weekend.

Personally, I feel that the spiderman series is an excellent live action good guys vs bad guys without profanity and questionable love scenes . . . Great entertainment and the grandkids are stoked. . .
