SPARTACUS: GODS OF THE ARENA WAS EXCELLENT!

My friend the police chief recommended this movie to me. Said he started to watch it and he couldn't get up. It had his full attention and he thought it was fantastic! I said, "Oh really?" I got this set "Gods of The Arena" and the other one. This series was truly full of a lot of things: Lots of sex and lust, blood and gore, surprises, betrayal and more! WOW! It was beyond what I expected. The House of Batiatus (Quintus and Lucretia) and the things they did "to others" to elevate their house and status. The Gladiator Gannicus one of the baddest gladiator and being a slave, how he had to do what he was told and perform with his best friends wife for the Romans enjoyment. Still, he was handsome and so awesome. And the Gladiators, how they practiced, fought, and aspired to be great and lived for only one thing - to fight in the Arena. What Lucretia did to her father in law: What she did to him and how she treated him before he died. Cold blooded! How they turned a young virgin girl into a shell (mostly everyone around them) and made her wish for death. Even the most innocent was not spared from their plots and schemes even friends and those who were loyal to them. And the Syrians, the smaller one - what a dog hearted man to do that to his brother. WOW! I didn't expect to see or hear the things I saw and heard in this series and I must admit, It had me on the edge of my seat, unable to move. The plot was superb, the fight scenes were impeccably done - the whole series was done with great accuracy, breathtaking color and costume. Very authentic and believable. There's so much going on and so much to be said but you will see that for yourself. It was a feast for the eyes and ears and beyond what I expected. Enjoy!

Love the Series, poor quality packaging, No bonus material as claimed.

I am rating this three stars mainly for the poor packaging and false claims of Bonus materials. I bought this set of dvd's brand new and unopened. As I removed the shrink wrap from the box all the Discs fell out of the bottom. The cardboard case was defective and had come apart. It will no longer hold the discs. I will have to store them in another case. In addition there are none of the bonus features as advertised on the box on disc 4. In fact,the table of contents printed on the box does not match the discs a all. One other reviewer complained of this. I am wondering if they are all like this or did I receive a factory second or a bootleg copy? I always enjoy the bonus material so I am disappointed.
All is not lost though the discs seem to play. I LOVE the series. I have actually seen all three seasons and I was buying the dvds because I know I will want to watch them again and again. I am not knocking the content of the dvd's but the poor quality of the product. It is hard to express this with 1 to 5 stars. I am reviewing the DVD product not the Spartacus series which is awesome.

You will get caught up in the storyline...

For a guy, he will love the brutal, bloody (almost video-game like) fight scenes in the gladiator arena. For a girl, she will love the deeper story of wanting to be accepted in social circles. The buff bodies of men in loin cloths doesn't hurt either! Story of love, loss, and survival.

Awesome Product Love It

Starz On demand does not have all the episodes to beable to catch up. This is a very good show. As all dvds of shows that you miss some episodes it nice to beable to watch start to end. This was actually a mini series before season 1 I didnt know they had done.

Great second season! But NO BONUS FEATURES AS ADVERTISED ON BOX!!!

I enjoyed watching the first season and was not dissapointed with this prequel. Lots of blood,sex, nudity, murder and all around good fun.lol.The fight scenes in the coliseum are excellent as in the general storyline and action. BEWARE! there are NO bonus features included on Disc 4 as is advertised on the box!! I don't know what happened?? The whole story from start to finish is there but the bonus features are NOT INCLUDED as advertised!!
