|ATA Chronicle, 01-FEB-09, Maria de la Paz Garcia Cortes -- "When I started assessing the dictionary by Herrera Mc Elroy and Lola Grabb, I was pleasantly surprised. By including information on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the Bill of Rights of the Patient, and examples of different types of consent forms, this dictionary is a great tool to familiarize the user with important aspects of the health care field in the U.S...In conclusion, the Diccionario Medico Espanol-Ingles-Ingles-Espanol is a very good reference tool. Doody's Book Review Service, 02-JUN-06 -- "For those wanting an affordable Spanish-English English-Spanish medical dictionary, this one has many extras that set it apart from others in the field."
Average review score based on 2 user reviews
My use of this reference is as a tool in medical interpreting (Spanish/English). The dictionary comprises not only listings of words and their translations in the two languages, but also basic patient intake and interview terminology. Furthermore, it includes very useful subject-specific word lists arranged in alphabetic order in English. I enjoy picking it up and browsing to learn or refresh; I usually scan it prior to appointments to review subject areas. Given variations in word usage throughout the Americas, it is helpful to have several choices of words to increase the degree of the patient's understanding. This dictionary is a great tool!
So far this is my only such dictionary; it does need the support of a good general Spanish/English dictionary.
