Movie synopsis
THE SORROW AND THE PITY is one of the greatest documentaries ever made, delving into the Nazi occupation of France. Director Marcel Ophuls interviewed dozens of French, British, and German citizens, including soldiers, former Nazis, members of the resistance and collaborators. The result is an amazing portrait of ordinary people in extraordinary, and terrible, conditions.

The Sorrow and the Pity

Review For: The Sorrow and the Pity (DVD, 2001, 2-Disc Set)

In depth documentary of life in France during the Vichy government occupation of WWII. First hand interviews with Nazis, French citizens, French government officials not aligned with the Vichy, etc.
Out of print for years and re-released with the aid of Woody Allen.

a great woody allen movie worthy of watching

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

as of the title's not enough of a tip off, marcel ophuls' documentary about the nazi occupation of france, and those who resisted and collaborated is enough of a downer that it served as a punchline in annie hall as the ultimated bad date movie
