Fast Live View AF and single-shot performance; tiltable LCD; dual card slots; relatively simple, straightforward operation; built-in wireless flash and image stabilization; helpful SteadyShot indicator.
Smallish grip; middling viewfinder; default settings produce suboptimal photos.
The Sony Alpha DSLR-A330 is a solid entry-level dSLR that will surely have its fans, but unless you really want Live View, its cheaper sibling, the A230, is a better deal.

This is the best camera I have ever owned.
I bought this camera because I have dabbled in photography in the past and I wanted to take my photography to the next level. This camera was a very good step up for me. There are so many settings and adjustments to allow you to get just the right shot and never sacrifice quality. Everything is laid out well and it's easy to figure everything out. I rushed right in and started using it right away and immediately fell in love with it. You do have to consult the manual a bit when you start getting into all the manual settings and adjustments.
This camera is an ideal beginner-intermediate camera for those just getting into photography. The sensor size is one of the larger sensors on the market. ISO up to 3200. Shutter speed up to 1/4000 of a second. Auto & manual focus. Auto settings available for ISO, aperture, & shutter speed as well. Pre-programed modes include: auto, no-flash, portrait, landscape, small-subject, moving-subject, sunset, and night view. All these together allow the user to take photos in countless ways. With the 10.2 megapixel max image size, you don't really have to worry about loosing quality due to pixelation. Images can be saved in either RAW or J-peg format. Included software allows you to modify the RAW negative to get the right pre-settings to get the best out of your photos.(very very useful)

All-in-all, this camera gives you seemingly endless possibilities for a better price than anything else on the market and does not compromise a thing.
I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to take their photography to the professional level.
Sony DSLR-A330 Kit with DT 18-55mm Lens is a great package for a beginner range DSLR camera. It takes clear shots everytime, with AUTOFOCUS and MANUALFOCUS adjustments. With the built in modes the possibilities are endless with this camera. Not only that Sony has provided a tilting LCD Screen for taking pictures overhead or down low and still being able to view the screen. All these features made me buy a Sony Alpha A330, it was a very good buy as the value was exceptionally well placed at 490.0 USD.
This camera is great for beginners just getting started with DSLR photography, like myself. It's smaller size is a plus (for me) as it feels lighter than most Canon/Nikon cameras, allowing more portability. The interface is extremely user friendly as I had no problems learning about shutter speed, aperture priority, and ISO settings in the first few minutes i unwrapped the product. Other positive aspects include the built-in flash and the ability to tilt the LCD screen. Overall, a great camera for normal, everyday shooting. The ability to use Minolta lenses from 20+ years ago makes Sony DSLR cameras a versatile product that, in my opinion, can rival Canon and Nikon
This camera has an old school feel. I first became familiar with SLR cameras when I visited Hong Kong in 1991. Nothing has the picture quality or depth of field of a first rate lens attached to good SLR. Combining the SLR design with a CCD sensor keeps this design current.
This camera has only a 10.2 megapixel setup, but the pictures I've taken here on Holiday in Thailand have been incredible. The ability to change lenses, the ease of selecting settings, being able to use a remote control to fire the shutter while on a tripod make this a very good camera for the amateur or someone who is simply ready to move up from simple point and shoot cameras. This model is only about a year old, so they should be great deal on ebay. Buy it.... you won't be disappointed. This camera made my subjects sit up and take notice, and everyone wanted to see the picture I had just taken on the 2.7 LCD display. I'd like the 14.2 MP A380, but my budget isn't allowing it for now and I don't want to part with this incredible machine, even if just upgrading! :)
I bought this camera like a month ago and I am very happy. This is an excellent camera, no matter if you are an amateur or a professional photographer. The picture quality is really good and the camera comes with a life view screen and is built with anti-shock inside the body. I also buy a Tamron lens 70-300mm and the photos are amazing. The camera is very easy to use and the live view is a really good advantage for those making the transition to the DSLR world. And the best of all is the price. Why to pay so much for a Canon or Nikon if you can have the same picture quality with this camera.
