Excellent video quality, a broad feature set, and decent photos make the Sony Handycam DCR-HC96 an excellent choice for those seeking a compact MiniDV camcorder. Navigating the small touch screen may encourage you to stick with its automatic features, however.

This CAMCORDER is a perfect compliment to our other DCR-HC96. It is easy to down load movies to the PC with our level of software or store on individually kept mini cassettes for the many users. The picture quality and sound is excellent on a high definition screen. The weight is right, not too heavy or too light. For us, more convenient to use that a new SONY model purchased, and better picture definition than earlier SONY models. As good picture definition as the latest new SONY model purchased.
This videocamera is excellent, amazing and pretty. I compared this model with others before make my purchase. I was looking for video quality, sound, pretty design and price. When I finally bougth it, I knew my decision was the correct. I had used it in two times and the results were more than I expected. The only bad thing is the battery life, its duration is poor and I have often to charge it. I know that is an Sony's strategy to buy accesories and I think this situation is for all companies with minidv products.
I have been using this camcorder for over a year now, and I have been extremely pleased with it. Especially, it gives one of the best results for indoor low-light settings. It is compact and the new MINI-DV loading mechanism is better compared to older Sony models.
One thing I don't like about this camcorder is that you can take pictures in MemoryStick Pro Duo but cannot record movies on them.
Not exactly what I thought I was getting but I intend to buy another one as it is difficult to get mini DV cameras anymore and this also has an analog converter.
