Android 1.6 - Tried to update no good | Unlock - $ 50

Well first off let's tell the bad side.

Alarm will ring/play - ONLY 1 - time
(Yes that's right, you can hit snooze and it will play again in 10 minutes)
*But if you don't touch the alarm it will "Silence the Alarm" and that alarm will not play again -- *Like other Sony Ericsson models...

Alarm can't be a MP3 song.

Battery is meant only for 1 day usage so if you forget to charge one day you will have a dead phone some time into the 2nd day.

The CALENDAR is online, so if you want to just check what day of the month will "ie. 20 august 2011" hit you have to log-on to google.

The Earphones / Headset's: It's really a - DOWNGRADE - compare to the old earphones you would get from the Walkman versions (W800, W810, W890)

When the phone is look you can't higher the volume by the side key's and can't change music by holding-pressing down on these key's.

I placed a mp4 vídeo from Youtube on the phone (Download to pc using "Real" than convert/upload to memory) and the phone will not play the video.

No multi touch screen but I guess that would be available if I was on Android 2.1...

--- Good side?
Camera is good - 8.1
No Full HD in video recording since I can't upgrade Android to 2.1
(Don't know why)
Fast phone no lag

Powerful device - elegant looks

When i first got the phone it was running on Android 1.6 - I was not so much impressed: no multitouch, no hd video no transition effects....After I flashed it with android 2.1 (eclair) the phone was like a new device!!! Everything that was missing was now there: multitouch, hd video, transition menus and full 16 million color display ( it was 64k before flashing)
I love this phone becouse it's highly customisable and it's not all closed like iphone. If you don't like the stock OS you can always flash it with another custom android ROM!!! ;)
Music player looks and performs nice, headphones sound is superb, i only dislike that there is no equalizer settings option.
Video player is nice and you can also watch youtube in HD!!!
If you are a gamer, you'll love this phone because it supports HD games such as Modern Combat: Sandstorm and Hero of Sparta.
Oh, I forgot to mention...the web browser is awesome!!! much better and faster than iphone's safari which claims to be the best of all.
I think this says enough, if you have any questions about how to flash this phone with custom ROMs email me @ ivke.sevke@gmail.com

Awesome product

No, I would not recommend this product.

With a large high-res screen, a Snapdragon CPU and ample amount of RAM the XPERIA X10 is nothing short of the top-end Android smartphones currently on the market. However its outdated Android version was holding it back and it found it hard to compete in the top tier.

Android 1.6 Donut wasn’t terribly bad for its time but it’s no match for either the functionality or the performance of Eclair and Froyo. That’s why we felt that the recent Eclair update it received was significant enough to justify a new article, rather than just update the old review.

Of course we aren’t going to repeat everything and we are going to focus on the new stuff only. If you feel like reading about the hardware we suggest you check out our original review.

Now let’s start with the XPERIA X10 update changelog so you know what to expect here.

* 720p HD video recording
* Continuous auto focus in video recording
* 5 homescreens
* Live wallpapers
* HTML5 support in web browser
* Backup and restore app
* New lock screen

Now these are only the big ones – the ones you notice straight after powering the phone on. There are also a few dozens of minor tweaks including new system fonts, a thicker notification bar, etc.

There are also a couple of notable absentees from the list. Multi-touch and 16M color support are still a no-go on the XPERIA X10, even after the Eclair update, which got Sony Ericsson quite a lot of critics already.

Now those two aren’t deal-breakers in isolation, but they certainly matter and give the X10 somewhat of an uneven start. They have basically reduced the XPERIA X10 error margin to a minimum so let’s hope all the rest of it works as promised.

The testing starts right after the break.

Great Device, if Eclairs are enough for you

Really stunning device: 1 GHz Processor, 8.1 MP Camera with 720p video capture, 4.0 inch capacitive screen with great contrast, and Android 2.1. Unfortunately, Sony isn't going to update the device further, but there are some stable custom froyo ROMs that people are having success with.

For me, I don't really care if Sony continues to support the phone. I wanted something with great media capabilities, a fast processor, wifi, and a good camera.

People complain about battery life for this phone, but if 3G is turned off, Apps are managed with a task killer, live wallpapers are disabled(I know, nexus is awesome), the display is dimmed, and wifi is used sparingly, its not impossible to get 3-4 days of use, especially if the battery is properly cycled out of the box.

This phone is awesome!!! It can do almost anything!!!

I love this phone. My father got me and my sister one for this past christmas and we totally fell in love with SONY's Xperia x10. It was at first difficult to work with a smart phone having it be my sister and I, first time working and having a smart phone. But after reading the manual and finding out all the details and work functionally on this phone, it was like have a mini computer next to my side at all times. It has alot of memory space, the camera on it is FABULOUS!!! It can twitter, facebook, etc. Its picture quality can be seen in either regular or HD...HD is superior!!! I love this phone, its slick, cute, lite, and full of functionality!!! I totally recommend it for those that have a busy life and need a mini computer in hand.
Always Rachelle
