The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W570 is simple to use with reliable auto shooting and decent low-light photos in a very small body.
The W570's shooting performance--especially shot to shot--is slow, and the lens has some edge and corner softness.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W570 is a tiny and light ultracompact capable of taking nice photos with little to no effort.

I bought this camera to replace my broken camera that i bought for almost $500. This camera is so much better than the one i got before. I would buy this camera again and again. I've always loved sony and this is by far their best camera out there for every day use. Its a small light weight camera and its fully loaded with everything you will ever need. Perfect for taking a quick shot of your kid winning the game with the last goal of the final seconds, or taking a very detailed up close shot of a flower with morning dew on it. There is no delay time on capturing the perfect picture. Nice sized sceen, great picture quallity. Its all around a great camera for anyone and everyone

With such a broad variety of nice point-and-shoot cameras in this price range one gets to be picky, and a couple of relatively minor things is all that's wrong with this camera. I am a pretty big Sony fan and own, or have owned, many items from them - headphones, laptops, cameras, and of course, PSP and PS3. This one is a bit of a let-down. Not a BAD camera, just clearly not the best, and clearly not up to the standard of Sony quality and construction. Here's why:
- The marketing photos look cooler than the camera does in person. The rear of the case is dark gray plastic; only the front half is silver.
- The shutter release button is a small, low-profile rectangle. Every other camera ever made has a circular shutter release that protrudes from the top, making it very easy to locate without looking for it. This one is smooth and low-profile so it's not as easy to just blindly grab and shoot. I just can't fathom why they would have made a button that's harder to locate by touch...
- Untrue to Sony's standard, the body feels light-weight and plasticy. The buttons (power, shutter release, zoom) feel kind of loosely fitted not solid and firm. Very un-Sony-like.
- The flash is overpowering for subjects up close. Subjects across the room (or the room itself) turn out pretty good colors with flash on.
- The battery life is truly abysmal. I took around 50 test pictures and one short (<15s) video and found that a fully-charged, brand-new battery was completely flat dead. I'm hoping this was some fluke with the first charge of the battery or something, although I haven't observed that in other cameras.
But does it take good pictures?
Yes!
It is a very nice camera for the price. It takes really good pictures. I love how I can automatically fix the red eye by editing the picture through the camera its self. It also seems pretty high quality when it comes to every detail in the picture.
I bought this camera because my Polaroid digital camera didn't have all the features I needed and because it ate double A batteries like crazy.
The Cyber-shot uses a rechargeable battery which is more than adequate for what I do. With this camera I can shoot several family photos, take pictures of the nature areas where I live, and snap still photos of items I want to sell on Ebay, all without worrying about battery life.
The in-camera guide is terrific for figuring out the ideal setting for your picture. Photos are crisp and clear, colors are sharp, and there are enough options to cover almost any photo op.
Recently I spent some time at the beach and took pictures of the ocean, wildlife, and plants/flowers. I posted the photos on Facebook for friends and got compliments on my improved photography skills...:)
I would recommend this lite, easy to carry camera to anyone looking for something affordable and user friendly.
The only issue I've had is with occasional blurring. I haven't figured out why; but it's probably operator error and I'm sure there's a way to correct this; I just haven't researched it yet.
Overall a delightful experience.
