Attractive design; large, useful feature set; nice 3.5-inch LCD; fast performance.
Touch screen not for everyone; soft images.

Given my feelings for Sony in general, I am shocked to see my name attached to two shining Sony product reviews. The first was for the camcorder I purchased about a year ago (still lovin' it) and the Cyber-shot DSC-T700/H point and shoot ultra-compact digital camera.
So there you have it if you don't feel like reading anymore: AWESOME CAMERA AT ANY PRICE.
Now, the details.
When it came to me, I quickly unwrapped the tiny package and unveiled the almost too tiny rectangular piece of metal. Once the battery was fully charged (took awhile), I fired her up. It powers on quickly and gives you almost instant access to taking shots. That's a great feature when you're attempting to capture "the moment" instead of its aftermath.
This camera is feature-rich, but I seem to only use a few. Two, specifically:
1) Smile-shutter; and
2) Touch-screen focus.
The smile-shutter feature detects smiles and takes the shot at just the right moment. Not good for capturing grandpa without dentures in, but really cool for about every other shot with people. Now it doesn't work all the time, but it's still great technology that makes the user smile as well.
The touch screen focus is an absolute dream. I can't tell you how many times I couldn't grab the right focal point with my SLR in auto mode. Talk about frustrating. What's worse is examining the otherwise priceless OUT OF FOCUS photo. This feature virtually eliminates that issue. Crappy photographers, rejoice!
Other than that, the 4 gigabytes of internal storage is more than adequate if you do the right thing and transfer your images after each use. I'm pretty sure you can get over 400 pics on the highest resolution setting. If you need more, there's another slot for more!
Finally, the screen on the back is great for sharing pics and evaluating each pic's value before decididng to keep or discard. The LCD is HUGE!!!
Well, that's about it. Sony made another very nice quality product. I am amazed. Happily!
The touch screen of DSC-T700 is huge and funcational, however, the function manu could be bit annoying after you have many photos inside. The stylus comes with T700 is not as elegant in the looks as the camera, and it can only be attached to the camera hand strip, always worry it might be lost somehow. Speed on turning on the camera & photo shoting is fast but on some night shot scene it takes really long time to adjust the focus & speed. The quality of photo is superb, no question at all.
I just purchased the Sony T700 camera and it takes perfect pictures. I am happy with it. It's very intuitive to use since it has context-sensitive menus with the touchscreen. It's internal memory is great to take and store pictures and not having to empty the memory to make place for new pictures times and often.
The down thing is that it doesn't have panoramic view and that I'm still trying to figure out how to make best use of battery since I can only take pictures or record for only a day out.
This is a very attractive camera from Sony. And also T700 is a thin, ultra compact camera. Best thing is this one has 4GB internal storage. I have used this now in many environments (including snow, cloud and dark) and got the best results. Touch screen is very sensitive and you can easily change all of the settings of the camera.
I'm recommending this to everyone.
Love the camera features and easy functions are great. fits right in your shirt pocket.easy to teach the wife. great quality of pictures and large screen are enjoyable to use.
