This is not the fault of the sellor that I give this rating rather it was the performance rating on CNet ect that I went by.
This WX1 was supposed to be one of the fastest point and shoot cameras according to the comparison ratings.
I can tell you that whomever wrote those ratings is dead wrong
especially about the speed, the camera is slow, very slow even slower then the cheaper models I have. This is observed under actual operational conditions not
some fake test enviornment so its the real skinny.
Manufacturers take great pains to hide the real weakness in a point and shoot camera which is Shot to Shot speed (no flash), this is not the "Burst" rate they usually tout to confuse the purchaser into thinking the camera is better then it actually is.
The bottom line is that while the 1st shot taken by the WX1 is quick, the subsequent shots are very slow, and that the real bottom line.

This Sony Cyber-Shot Camera is TERRIFIC. Its probably the BEST Investment I have made since coming to ebay. The Picture Quality is Unbelievable, the Video is Exceptional and even I can work it. I needed something to take pictures with for My selling on ebay, as I sell Sports Cards and Memoribilia, and I want My customers to get the best possible picture of what they are bidding on or buying. This Camera is Perfect for that and for all my picture taking and Videoing. Thanks Sony for an Incredible, Afforable and easy to use Video/Camera. Oh, and Thanks to SquareTrade for offering a Warranty on the Electronic Device I purchased.
I bought this camera to upgrade from my 3.6 megas. Though I have not yet printed any, I can see a difference, not great and won't know much more until I print. I like the camera - light and easy to use. I stay with Sony because I've had good luck for the most part. I don't like that it has no view finder but I really love that I can use my AA rechargeable batteries and the charger that came with my other sonys. I can't compare to any other brand because I've always stayed with a Sony. I don't have a problem with reconditioned items. I have a printer which also is and that has served me very well.
Its almost exactly what I wanted.
1) It has video capabilities. Nothing fancy and only one low res setting but doable for quick vids and youtube responses.
2) It uses AA batteries! This way I can use my rechargables and no need to buy proprietary new style special batteries for my camera. Love it.
3) Memory sticks: They use a lesser known format of memory stick called "Memory Stick Duo". It used to have another name but I guess the whole format has been bought by sony or something and they renamed it so they could have it be a proprietary thing they provide. The sticks are a little bit more expensive but not so much. I didnt like this because I have SanDisk memory cards already and cannot use them *snaps fingers* but not a big deal at all.
4) as far as picture quality 10.1 megapixels is more than enough for my needs as most uploads are a max of 4.0 mb (facebook etc) anyway and 10.1 gets you a nice sized picture as big as I need unless I am doing a special project and want to blow up a pic.
It has all the functions you need, sepia, color correction, lighting correction for low light and incandescent or flourescent lighting, many of these and also auto correct. You can also rotate pics and basically do whatever you need to. I dont need much so I just use auto unless its really low light or something. Maybe I will play with these settings later more after I get used to the camera.
Overall I am very happy with it and almost gave it 4 stars because of the memory card but it costs about the same so... cant really falt them too much on being different from what I am used to.
Its a good camera and I would suggest it to anyone. I just wanted one that could take videos basically and pictures. This has all of this in spades. Maybe a 640 video setting option would have made it perfect. Oh well... for 40$ I got a steal with this camera!
