Disney's first full-length animated masterpiece features all the elements of a classic fairy tale--a beautiful heroine, an evil queen, Prince Charming...and a septet of whistling dwarfs. In hiding from her jealous and wicked stepmother, the fair Snow White takes refuge with a band of kind-hearted, hard-working dwarves: Bashful, Sneezy, Sleepy, Happy, Grumpy, Dopey and Doc. Eventually the vain queen finds Snow White and tricks her into eating a poisoned apple. Luckily, a wandering prince comes to her rescue, but can he break the evil queen's spell? Based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS was initially thought a crazy idea for a feature film by those at Walt Disney. However, its lush production and charming characters proved otherwise. Standing the test of time since its release in 1937, the film has entranced audiences for decades, teaching them to never be vain and always whistle while they work.
Once upon a time, as the elaborate pages of this spellbinding storybook opens you are taken to a beautiful castle as a Queen speaks into the magic mirror on the wall. The face within the mirror tells her she is not the fairest in the Kingdom but a young maid named Snow White is the by far fairer than thee.
What an enchanting and revered this Walt Disney movie: SNOW WHITE and the SEVEN DWARFS, the Platinum Edition two-disk tasty treat is. This golden 1937 classical masterpiece is the apple of my eye. I watched this double disk Fairy Tale of dynamic proportions and to watch both disks you will need to have plenty of time. It is so jam packed and loaded with extras and specials. The story itself is worth the weight in golden pages and the extras are icing on your cake.
An evil Queen is jealous of a young maiden girl with lips as red as the rose, hair black as ebony, and skin white as the snow. She has given the Huntsman a horridly wicked command, to have Snow White killed. Not only killed, but to provide proof that he killed her by putting the girls heart into a box and bringing it back to the Queen to verify that the young beauty was indeed dead. Of course the huntsman can't do it, and he tells Snow White to run away into the blackest depths of the forestry.
As one can expect the vain Queen play with her magical mirror once again, believing the raving beauty is dead. She speaks into the mirror to find out who the fairest of the entire kingdom is, only to be told it is still Snow White. She turns herself into a hideous old hag and goes out into the forest to find Snow White and gives her a poisonous apple to put her in a sleeping death that can only be broken by "loves first kiss."
Snow White found a little cottage and began to clean it up not realizing it belonged to seven messy dwarfs. The seven dwarfs are Sleepy, Doc, Sneezy, Grumpy, Dopey, Happy, and Bashful. They are diamond mine diggers that sing delightful little tunes such as: "Heigh Ho" with such gusto!
The colors in this digitally remastered gem is breathless, the heart shaped leaves of greens, flowers draping the area with brilliance, while the dark forestry showed glowing eyes all about it. Snow White even couldn't take the brilliance of the film ---for she passed out.
Watching Snow White's lush eyelashes flutter, her lips move elegantly, and her rosy checks upon her milky white face is such a pleasure to view. Disney put a lot into this special animated enchanting movie. From the sound being put into surround Dolby Digital 5.1 you get all woozy-eyed and pitter pattering in the heart when you hear well Barbara Streisand sing, "Some Day My Prince Will Come" at the very end of the movie. You then you have the splendid surreality of natures finest brought to animation in the truest to life vivid colors. I wish Disney would do this much for all their movies.
When I opened this double-boxed disk set I was amazed at the glamorous packaging Disney provided for such a special classic tale. Inside was a pamphlet loaded with information and tidbits. Although this was digitally remastered the details and the classic feel remains the same as it was originally portrayed.

Walt Disney actually wanted to make Alice in Wonderland first - it was his favorite story - but he was persuaded to do Snow White. The backers knew it would be the most commercial of the two.
They were right and so much more! Not only was this a big commercial success it started the studio that would create classics of animation loved by kids and adults all over the world.
Everyone knows the story of Snow White and her wicked stepmother. How Snow ran away and lived with the 7 dwarfs and dreamed of her prince. How she was put under a spel by her wicked stepmother who disguised herself as an old woman who gives Snow a red apple. And how her prince did come for her and everyone lived happily ever after.
This 2 disc dvd edition has making of featurette, Barbra Streisand video, bonus animated shorts, a Dopey interactive game, deleted scenes, publicity shots, storyboard to film comparison and tons more! Really worth it, but be aware that this is a retired video which has been put in the Disney vault. That means you will not find it in stores and they will probably be more expensive than retail - although you can find it for retail or less here on Ebay.
This is a true Disney Classic, being Walt Disney's very first full-length animated feature film. It has plenty of merit still to this day and continues to inspire and delight kids and adults alike to this day. It is a very decent adaptation of the classic story done with the kind of classic animation they just don't make anymore. Before the times of VHS and DVD, they used to re-release this film every 7-10 years or so to theaters to awe new generations of kids. This is a must have for collectors, just based upon it's historical merit alone and highly recommended for anyone who wants to relive some old memories or just buy a classic little film for your children.
This 2 Disc DVD has a TON of extras, both for kids and adults, ranging from games for the kids to a detailed history of the film and origins of the Disney company. I don't, personally, call this my absolute favorite Disney film, but it is one of the all-time classics. There's no denying that, and many people still claim this as their favorite Disney film which certainly says something about it.
